Now, I have a few questions about this engine. I'm thinking about buying it...

1. Will the rotostart backplate from the S-25 fit it? If not, can I modify it to fit instead of buying a whole new backplate?

2. Is this thing real sensitive to tuning? Is it hard to tune?

And, I want to use this for racing in my savage. Or will it be too much power? I'll be racing on a large track.

it may have a bit too much power with 3.1hp but a lower gear ratio like on the new Savage SS4.6 should better the control throughout acceleration.

If you have a large track too much power could be good, but like carbon said you are just gunna have to gear it so it is controllable. I would also suggest looking at the Wasp .28. I know for a fact the S-25 rotostart will fit and I also know that it has incredible power. I used to run one in my savage and it had crazy low and high end, awesome engine, although it was a tad tricky to get it in the sweet spot but once you do, look out.

yea the wasp 28 has a max rpm at 42,000 which will give some really good top end and with 2.85 hp it can be a nice engine with good SG/CB combination

Well, I've done some more research, and have found that the Mach 26 and Fantom FR27 seem to be my best bet. But, where can I find the FR27 PS? I've looked everywhere, stormer, horizon, all the major and a few minor places too...

And, will the S-25 rotostart backplate fit the mach 26?

weird, the fr27 is nowhere, all i found at stromer was a piston and sleeve, head shimes and crankshaft.

I heard a few bad things about the FR27. Contact Plaidfish about them. He told me it was a beast of an engine but he had problems with them wearing out very very fast.

I think you can find the FR27 on ebay, but if you want the FR27 I would suggest to go with the Wasp .28. They are a very similar enigne. Also take a look at the SH .28, I hear those have tons of power.
