my buddy has a maxx with a .26 on it and he is just now getting it broken in. but it will run about 5 mins then die and its burning the element out of the plugs and its still on the factory settings....i have never hered of a engine burning the plugs up being too rich? can this happen any ides on whats going on with it?

It can ruin a plug if it's too rich. Check to see if it's spitting fuel out when running, the low needle is probably too rich.

yeah its spitting fuel like crazy its still at factory settings just finishing up break in and it started this I'm gonna go to his house tom and lean both the hsn and lsn a bit and see what i can do i just didnt know if this was a common problem with a .26s or anything

Lean carefully, it'll take a gallon or more to fully break in.

My 21 picco was so rich it wouldn't even start without turning in the lsn 1/4 turn.

well got it tuned today and was running good then it explided and trashed the engine the rod flew apart and trashed everything

I dunno if this is the case, but I've read that breaking a motor in too rich (too cool) is nearly as bad as getting them too hot (lean) and that a thrown rod early in life is the usual symptom? Either way, bummer about the motor.. Sux when anything "new" breaks..

8 tanks or so and it was running rich but not super ungodly rich and it was getting hot running that rich for some reason

whos knows..that thing was a pile i would not recomend it to anyone he had nothing but problems out of it for a 2 weeks he had it lol:hehe:

Well it could have been a fluke defective engine. The Picco 26 is probably twice as popular as all the other aftermarket engines combined....in revos and maxxes.

I'm pretty much sold on o.s. engines when my .18 blows up gonna get the .21 prob but ya it prob was but from what i have read alot of people have problesm out of them

This is the first time I ever heard of a picco failing. Besides user error. I strongly believe that an ignored air-leak caused this problem. They definitely are not pos. An O.S. will self destruct just as fast when abused.

Never heard of any problems with Picco .26. I have had one on my Revo for a while with no problems.

when i googled the it everything i came up with said most had air leaks and if i remember right something about the bearings leaking but I'm not forsure and I'm not saying they are bad engine i personaly think he got a bad one. he called them and they said tough luck on it because he took it apart to see what happend to do
