I have a revo with a picco.26 max thats on its 7th tank.I'm having a hard time getting the right tune.my buddy has a stock revo 3.3 that can keep up with me.I'm hoping i understand this right but by leaning the low speed needle means faster take off and leaning the high speed needle means faster top speed?I'm runnningstock clutch bell with a 36t sur gear.any ideas

You lean either of those needles out to far and your going to toast that motor.

Return the engine to factory settings.
Read the owners manual for that engine and or your revo.
Both will have tuning instructions.

Keep in mind that the 3.3 and .26 picco both will put out close to the same amount of power.
They arent exact. But either will hang with one another.

So does the 3.3 hang with you through the entire power band?
Actually, your engine is still probably breaking in. 7th tank? It may take a few more tanks to come to life. Did you seal it up when you got it?

I sealed the carb not the needles but where the carb slides in the block and the pinch bolt.i think i could get him at top speed but not much.but usually I'm playin catch up

Seal the backplate! Put some around where the oring is. I highly doubt a 3.3 will hang with a 3.3

Haha....good times.
Sealing the backplate up isn't a bad idea. Just small things that will help you tune. You might need to look into changing you gearing for that engine. There are several factors to consider.

I am by no means any kind of RC expert, but are you are saying that the .26 Picco and the .20 stock 3.3 traxxas motor are equals?? Or close to equals??

Oh kay....

People around here just.. amaze me sometime.

Haha, i was in a rush, going to the nickel back concert :p: It was amazing. But i doubt a 3.3 will hang with a .26 with a modified crank (yes, the red dot comes stock with a modified crank). Seal the backplate with high temp rtv and then put some around your carb neck. I was having problems with my picco but then i did the above and now its an amazing engine.:first_place: Oh yea, and the best setup for a picco .26 is 50k front, 20k rear, and 500k in the center diff if you have one. A wide ratio transmission and 17/16 gearing will get you good results.

Seal the entire engine. Backplate, carb neck, and put a ring of associated's green slime around the threads on the high and low speed needles.

I had my front bearing go out on my Picco .26max right after break in. The engine tune became erratic and it was impossible to tune. Come to find out my front bearing was sucking air due to the fact that it had a lot of play in it. I did not even have half a gallon of fuel through the engine.

Put a new Boca bearing in and it is all better now. Holds a tune and isn't as sensitive to temperature change as my old 3.3.
