I have a picco .26 outlaw that I rebuilt. New piston and sleeve. I went through break in prosses and can't keep it running. As long as I have throttle engaged it runs fine. As soon as I break it stalls. What is going on. I tried to adjust LSN and HSN and Idle screw. can't get it to stop stalling. Anyone have any ideas? Checked for air leaks and can't find anything. I zip tied the fuel line and exhaust. I zip tied the muffler and siliconed the back plate. Starts right up and runs at around 220 degrees. Its in a savage x. I need to get this thing running so I can sell it. I just puchased a Losi Ten T and need the extra cash for upgrades.

if it runs when on throttle then turning up the idle screw should work.... check carb or try another one

I turn the idle screw and nothing happens it doesn't even change the idle

Set the idle gap to 1mm and then don't touch the idle screw. Then lean the LSN until it will idle on it's own. The HSN has nothing to do with the idle so no need to adjust it for the idle issue.

Take off the air filter. Look down the neck of the carb and turn the idle screw clockwise. It should open up the carb. If its already set to 1-1.5mm then leave it and tune lsn

Thank you. I know the basics and have tuned a few dozen engines. I messed with it today and tried all the basic troubleshoots. There is a 1mm opening. The truck idles fine, idled for 2 full tanks. She even runs fine, a little slow on the high end and pops up just fine, but I know HSN has some adjusting left. I noticed the slide sticks a little at the end and when I hit bracks it closes the gap to 1mm. So its actually idling with a bigger gap. I have to take the carb apart and check pins and slide. I also checked for air leakes from tank to exhaust. Nothing at all. ????? I dont know its driving me nuts...lol

check your linkage for wear and tear. also re adjust the position of the carb and slide arm so that it moves smoothly. the return spring should pull it back to 1mm every time.

Never fully extend a picco carb. Set the end points so the slide is flush with the opening as if you pull it all the way out, it will wear into the barrel and cause binding issues. Also make sure that the linkage is perfectly straight when full open and have the deflection when it is closed so there is no side loading when the slide has little support from being pulled out.

Ill be on that tomorrow. Thanks guys Ill keep you posted.

Adjusted link. Perfectly straight. Tried everything. Still stalls on breaking. I give up. I don’t get it. Went through a gallon of fuel runs mint but on break she stalls. Seems like the idle pin isn't reacting properly. It binds up the slide rather then opening and closing the gap. I have to lock it all the way down to get 1.5mm gap. I can’t find an idle pin for it at any hobby shops or online. I don’t have the patients to keep at it. For Sale she goes. Let someone else figure it out. I got my Losi Ten T and it blows the doors off any savage I had anyway. That’s with the stock 3.4 in it. I’m going to post on classifieds selling the savage/picco .26 and my other losi ten t
