i am having some truble with it busting oneway bearings i know roto start is not a good selection of starting methods but its all i have to start it with cuz I'm still in tuning phase so I'm not pullling a million times on a pull start just to get pissed off and blisters on my hands and run time any body got any solutions to bearing problem its so tempremental it wont even start with glow plug cracked so I'm out of brain power on it

you should only run the roto in 5 second increments. i like the pull start. it's convienent, dont have to carry the starter and battery around if it dies. i broke my first pull on the k46. the 2nd one is just fine. maybe the engine just likes to fire up. a guy posted and how to do thread on making a fixed one way. doesn't need the bearing. he's been roto starting his truck with it for about a year with no problems.

heres the thread. hope it helps.

well it was a nice try but mine has the internal OWB not the external so i can't use his solution and the old style back plate like his wont work on mine have already tried it but thanks any way

You would think with all the aftermarket company's out there that one of them would come up with a better one way for a roto start. Anyway before I modified the hell out of my shaft I used a cordless variable speed drill to start it. This way I could ease in to it and it wasn’t as violent as the rotostart. I still ended up wasting the bearing but not as quick as with the roto start unit.

well that is what I'm doing to is useing my cordless drill i just got the rotostart back plate on it

i am using a cordless drill with a rotostart back plate on new style picco 26 outlaw with the internal owb and i keep busting the case on the owb i have got like 150 bucks in owbs in this thing and i dont want to put pull start on it yet cuz I'm still in the tuneing phase and some times it doesn't want to start and i dont want to pull for an hour and get nothing but when i get it tuned ill prolly go back to pull start tho anyone got any thing to help me out i have got the washer for the rotostart plate and my motor wont start with glow plug cracked so thats ruled out so I'm kinda lost and out of brain farts for this

I heard someone in the past using jb weld (I'm sure some plumbers putty will work) between the outercase of the actual bearing iteslf and the cracked steel flange. The person clamped it together in a vice or vice grips until it dried. He said it seemed to work. I did this on my broken one-way using metal epoxy (not as strong as the other 2) and it seem to work on my wasp26 but my engine has no compression and is tuned pretty good.

Do not use a cordless drill with a socket on the end to spin the one way bearings. They break very easily and are only sutable for pull starts. Go back to the pull start and save your money, because they will keep breaking with the drill!

i useing my drill with a roto start because its hard to start with pull start it doesn't always want to start but when i get it tuned pretty close i plan on putting pull start back on it but for now i was useing roto start

The real solution to this problem is to tune the motor. It should certainly start in less than 10 pulls and you should not have to exert excessive force when pulling. Heating the motor with a hairdryer might help to get the motor started quicker.

A well-tuned motor should start in 5 pulls or less. Sometimes a really cold or a hot motor will take more pulls. It you are pulling more than 10 times then something is wrong. If you feel like you are exerting a lot of force when pulling then the motor is flooded. Too much priming or an overly rich mixture can result in a flooded motor.

thank you

well i am going to let rolex tune it today we are going down to the track and hes gonna tune it for me and show me some indian tricks on how to keep it tuned it was running great but for some reason the wasp 26 doesn't like to hold a tune very well one it will start right up then the next it might take 10 15 mins to start and i already tried the hair dryer trick it worked once ...... lmao

You might need to seal the backplate and carb. Check your fuel tank and fuel lines for an airleak. My primerless tank has sprung a leak twice at the horizontal seam.

tuning motor

Rolex and i tried it today tuning the motor but half way thru we had it running srarting very easy and then just all the sudden the bearing case split the harden case the bearing sets in split so thats bearing number 5 so i got $125 in bearings

no I'm useing a roto start til i get it tuned right so it will start with a pull start cuz when we first started today rolex and i it wouldnt run at all if it had a pull start we prolly would still be pullin

I've never seen this happen to a bearing before, least of all one as meaty as the one way. The outer race split, which means it now expands, making it too loose to engage the rollers.
How could that happen to 5 in a row?
I have the bearing here, and I was going to post some pics, but the camera batts are still charging.

thats cool rolex this is crash rolex lol i started this the other day when i first registered to forum to try and get a out look on things to do to fix problem

Problem solved. Today, a bearing split in two before the car even sputtered. He finally got Orion on the phone, and they told him if he used any type of rotostart, the warranty would be void, but they were going to send him 3 new one way bearings.
It was close to the right tune after yesterdays ordeal, and today, once the pull start was replaced, it started on the 3rd pull. The final tweaking was done, and it's running great. This one took almost as long to get running in person as it does on this site.

Crash, yesterday >

Crash, today > :worship:

well yall rolex finaly got the monster to run and we split the outer case of a one way bearing into and didnt even start the engine with it due to roto start and cordless drill but we put pull start on it pulled rope 3 times and it fired right up with about 3 turns of the screws rolex had it ripping thanx again rolex ......... i bow to the prestents of rolex once again he got me out of my rc delema but now the monster is truely a monster again.........
