looking to add some balls behid my tmaxx 2.5 to slow for me and can't keep up with my buddys os21. so i heard of about 6 motors i did a little research and got it down to 2 witch are both drop ins so now I'm stuck on witch one is the best so any help or just and opinion would be great.

npe i was gonna replace what ever braks first but yes i will soon be upgrading cvds.

OS has stopped making the OS 18 TM to make the OS 21 TM, so you might consider that one. Parts will probably be available cheaper longer than the one that has been discontinued. I have to make the same decision, and I'm really wanting to go with an OS.

have you look at the 18tz its a mean motor i hear but i stumbled across that picco.26 its seems to be the racers choice. but now thier might be a good thing i just seen my buddy to day and he thinking of trading me trucks he got the .21 convertion kit with hand full of hop ups to ask why he wants to trade LOL!!dont no dont care sounds like a deel but dont get me wrong i have money in my truck.

yeap I've looked hard, came as close as you can to buying one without buying it. I had it in my cart, then decided that I was going to spend all that money for a big block, and to upgrade the rest of the truck to handle the power, and i would still have a 10th scale truck. So I took it out of my cart and bought a Savage X SS kit, best decision I've ever made. I still love my T-maxx and take it out a lot, but it does not compare to the HPI quality and durability.

with the .26 small block you are going to have to replace the transmission for sure, and you will probably start snapping driveshafts as well. Thats 200 for the engine, 100 for the tranny, and 100 for the CVD's and stuff and you're at 400 already, and that's just what will have to be replaced within the first 5 or 6 tanks of fuel after break in, then other stuff that will come later. I paid 360 for my Savage X SS shipped to my door with a K4.6, which is a .28 ci engine. It just made a lot more sense for me to spend 360 and have the whole truck that was built to handle the power. This thing is stout, and I don't have to worry about shredding another part every time I crank it like I would with a big block T-maxx (I'm calling the .26 a big block even though it's a direct drop in for the small block.)

You could put the 18tm engine in their for about 150 total, and not worry about tearing up as much stuff, but you would probably still need some steel gears in the tranny or a 3.3 tranny, and then save your money for a true 1/8 scale big block truck.

they say the 3.3 and the os 18tm are pretty close as far as power is concerned, the OS just holds a tune better and lasts longer from what i've gathered from people who have had both.

sirio .27tx

i put a sirio .27tx engine in my t-maxx 2.5 and it has unbelievable power.at almost any speed you can gunn it and flip it over backwards without a wheelie bar.i have heard sirio engines are impossible to keep tuned but i have had no trouble with mine-i found the sweet spot and haven't had to mess with it at all.
