so I'm looking at buying a picco .26 jl next week and need to know which mount i need and what problems I'm going to have? i keep reading that the gearbox needs to be moved? and that there might be problems getting the mount in the first place....

is this the new era mount?

and is this a good deal or what? does that motor that comes with it go harder than the .26 jl reddot?

That New era 118p is the mount you need, but good luck finding one. The ofna mount works fine but you're pretty much limited to a 17 tooth clutch bell, it doesn't offer much adjustment. You may be able to shim the tranny up a little for other gear choices.

You can get the picco 26 MAX on ebay for about $160 usd, but your shipping is probably going to be expensive.....either way the max is a better value at that price.

so what is the difference between the max and jl red dot? i can get the reddot for 200 plus shipping, and the new era mount for 60 including shipping. they are in stock on there website.

The red dot has that special crap in the crankshaft. Other than that and the head I'm pretty sure they're identical. The red dot is said to have 10% more power.

I'm waiting for my JL that's on back order, and I'm going to use the new era 118p since I was very satisfied with their BB kit for my 28. From what I understand their mount is the best for our application.

Well if it's only 10 bucks then go for it. I sometimes see the .26 maxx on ebay for 160 bucks, and that's what I paid for mine.
