I bought a used Picco 26 from someone on the site. The engine is in great shape tight pinch very little use. I put it in my Revo along with the Ths pipe he ran on it. And all it does is flood. It will actualy pump fule into the pipe. I left his adjustments as they were and then reset everything to stock settings also. I even swapped a 3.3 back in it with the Ths pipe. Runs great with the 3.3. Any thoughts on what could be going on? Thanks

sounds like the needles are set waaaaaaaaay to rich.

Have you tried leaning out the needles at all (HSN & LSN), as they are the "Usual Subjects" where flooding is concerned.

Factory settings are really only either for breaking -in the engine or to get back to a known point to "Re-Tune" the engine from.

If it's so new then it's probably set very rich for break in. Also it may have been cold where it came from, requiring them to be set rich.

I have run them both way extreme rich and lean. No change. it acts like it just pulls the fuel right to the pipe. I am going to take the carb apart and make sure it is not dirty or gummed up, letting fuel go buy.

have you drained the pipe out at all ? it could be that it's flooded from rich running.

You would be suprised how much "fuel" (and i use that term loosely) can accumulate in the pipe and cause you to think the engine is running rich.

Well then there's a good chance the former owner screwed in the needles and ruined them, making it almost impossible to tune.

I wouldn't take it apart if you received it in working order. Take the plug out, pinch the fuel line, and turn the engine over while holding the truck upside down. Clear every last drop of fuel out of it. Let it sit for a half an hour or so and try it with a fresh plug. Is your ignitor charged all the way? What kind of starting system are you using?

now now 2revo........I answered before you fella :whhooo: :hehe:

Good call on the HSN needle metalhead......

i am going to take it apart tonight. I did drain the pipe and even ran it on the 3.3. I drained and let the engine dry out. I will try the carb and see what it looks like. Thanks for the help

It sounds like it is just very rich, if it run ok the needles should be good, I would just lean it out until the engine reaches 200F and then continue to fine tune from there. Picco's run rich until they are warmed up to running temps, if the temps never get high enough, the engine will never fully burn l the fuel resulting in a back-up like you say you have. The carb isn't dumping extra fuel (other then what's metered by the needles) or the engine would just stall out and not run at all. I would try leaning out the tune again before you dismantle it, you won't see anything I'm sure.

The needles are not ruined so that's not the issue. I sold the engine and pipe to tpc and I am guilty of running the mill on the rich side but never had nitro fuel accumulating in the pipe. I'm stumped because it ran great and held a great tune.

I tore it down completely tonight. Everything looks great, pich etc. it was definately run real rich, But the motor is in great shape. There might of been some crud behind the hsn. I will run it again when it stops snowing.
