I might have to look that one up for another project, Smiley. Is that a small block direct replacement for the TRX25?

I've got a Picco .26 big block in a .21 converted Maxx and I love it.

Yes, it's a drop in replacement with stock chassis.
Uses stock EZ-Start, Carb, Header, etc..

My buddy has the Orion Wasp .21 drop in and it has a lot of power. I beleive they are basically the same engines.

Gentlemen: you are truly an educative font of valuable information.

I am writin' shi* down

To answer your question, Smiley... I can't give you info regarding this Picco but I've heard the Sirio 18TX or the OS 18TM is a good drop-in replacement for the TRX25.

I have the picco...It's got BALLISTIC POWER...and it flips the T-maxx on it's lid going into 2nd gear if you're not careful.....even w/ a 24tCB and a 70t Spur.......BUT, it won't hold a tune for poop....you need to lean it out to start it and as soon as it gets to temp you have to richen it up and if it cools down between tanks start over....when it runs it's sick power....as long as I can get it up and keep it there my T-maxx kills revos.....the OS is a more reliable mill IMO....I don't have one but I see every one racing at my track has em in the revo.....

Plaid, the BB Picco I have now starts a whole lot easier if I point a hair dryer at the head for a minute to warm it up.

I have seen the sirio .23 in a maxx... holy poop, those have some power!!!! Wheelies for days...

Plaid, how does the stock draivetrain hold up? I am thinking of this engine rather then something more powerful because I do not want to have to replace the diffs or driveshafts just yet.

Just for everyone's info There is now a Picco 26 drop in for the Tmaxx w/o the Conversion. HELLA power must be!!!

I saw the .26 drop in - looks good and is 2.5HP vs 2.38HP for the .21 but the extra $$ is not in the cards right now.

Oh yeah! But he says he doesn't want that much power.... yeah right...

He's got a point, 21... I don't want that powerhouse in a stock Maxx for a couple reasons. One: The stock power train will disintegrate quickly. Two: I can let somebody else drive it and it'll be less likely to squirrel out of control.

The powerhouse goes in the mine-and-mine-alone vehicle.

Bad news the .21 will KILL your drivetrain...any of the after market mills will pretty much......if you haven't yet take all your diffs and tranny apart and shim EVERY GEAR in them to where the play is almost gone.....the tranny is a bitch cause you can't buy the shims in packs of just 1 size...get the OFNA shim kit and you'll be close to what you need...buy 2 and have spares....just replace th emill and expect to replace your gears......at least get the FOC and Metal primary tranny gears....and RRP diff kit should be about all until you twist the crap out of your axles......

and the .21 is WAY more than you are thinking from the sounds of your posts here.....it IS a powerhouse in the maxx.......it flips mine on it's lid going into 2nd gear at half throttle.....I don't think I've ever wound that mill out cause it's so freakin fast.....

I figure it's gotta be a HUGE difference seeing as it's adding about 75% more power.
Flipping over shifting into second, I wasn't quite expecting that..

What are you running for gearing? I'm sure it's gotta be useless with the stock 20/72.

24t CB / 70t Spur it's a rocket allright.....I'm probably going to sell it soon to fund more buggy / truggy projects It's one bad ass T-maxx for sure......

Got the Picco .21 and just finished breaking it in... I went with Plaid's suggestion of 24/70 gearing and the good news is it flies! The bad new is the rear diff lasted all of about 1/2 tank of beating, which I was kind of figuring, I actually tried to break it. Next question is about gears and diffs. I am looking at the Robinson Racing ring and pinion, but what about the side gears? Do they need to upgraded, do they have upgrades for them? Any suggestions on diff cases? I've read alot about how weak the stock case is, and a 4 screw aluminmum will help out quite a bit.
