WHaddup guys,

We took some T-maxx's and Savages with .26 Pico outlaws to the top of a welllit parking garge earlier tonight....to make a long story short I just got my maxx totally repaired and got the new Traxxas Big bore shocks on (the silicon oil sucks btw). I was tunning the motor and on the third tank all of a sudden I lost radio signal and my maxx went full throttle (about 34-38 @ this alltitiude) and smashed into a freaking concrete walll. THe batteries where totally fresh so it wasn't that (maybe some weird radio interference) but their was some younger dude laughing his ass off on the top of some roof and then he took...who knows maybe the guy picked up my frequency and ran it into the wall...lol.

ANyway.....I bent the phuck out of three of the nitired coated shafts on my brand new shocks and broke both of my front bulkheads (AAAAHHH I just fixed them). I have the rpm bulkhead braces and they definitely help some but not enough to keep me from breaking bulkheads apparently. I hit the wall so hard that my brand new front RPM skid plate just poped off screws and alll but didn't break. I was happy though that my newly installed Hardcore Ti chassis from Imbroken didn't bend any.

SO I guess I'm gonna have to shell out the bucks for some alluminum front bulkheads and be on my way to a more bulletproof maxx. I like the ones from Dace MFG that have the better alluminum now and are nickel plated but does anyone know of something better???

I don't like the Traxxas bulkheads as I no longer have any more blue alluminum on my truck.

Peace

I run Dynamite bulkheads and while they are definately stronger than stock, a full tilt run into a concrete wall would more than likely have bad repurcussions. The bulkheads are a point of give on a TMaxx. No matter how tight you build it, you still will have a chance of bending them. Even the best of bulkheads have been broken. Just think what would happen if they didnt break.

The problem is how much of a pain in the ass they are to replace.

What A-Arms are you running with?

Perhaps you should invest into a failsafe and TRS. You can easily get both for $45 bucks. Well worth it IMO.

Get the RPM bulkhead braces. I have a set and have NEVER broken a stock bulkhead. I've sent my T-Maxx rolling quite a few times so I know I tested their strength.

*edit**
Opps, I didn't completely read your post about the braces. I'm also running RPM arms so I don't know if that factors in.

The RPM A-Arms will help absorb impact and cut down on broken bulks. something has to give Id rather an A-Arm than a bulk.

Given the speed of your impact I don't think anything would have helped.

Get a failsafe......

Sup GUys..........thanks for the help. I'm running stock A-arms and I was going to do RPM all the way around but I'm just gonna wait to get the Gen 2 Widtrac SUpermaxx suspension from UE....I love the fact that you can adjust it but damn it's expensive.
Kinda pisses me off though that UE only sells the PRO kit as I already have titanium turnbuckles and hingepins (bent the Ti pins already.hehe) not to mention that I don't really need or want UE's shocktowers.

As for Failsafes...none of them work like they should IMHO and are more trouble then help. I usually do the "spring mod" but I didn't have it on since re-repairing my maxx...aahhh. The Venom is probably the best but still phucks up.

I guess I'll just wait to get alluminum bulkheads (From Dace) until I get the UE arms for more overall integrity.

Peace

Well, my brother was doing the same thing a few weeks ago (tunning). The car was an HPI Super Nitro Rally with the standard mill that came with it. When he was just setting the needle to manufacturer spec (car not running) the throttle servo started glitching from the screwdriver. He has an AM radio for the HPI. Turns out that the screwdriver was magnetized. Check your screwdriver!

Hey NitroBoy.... Glad the HC Chassis held up for ya... Before you go spending a ridiculous amount of $$ on the UE suspension, think about what that crash would have done to it... 7075 Al. bends too... & if for some reason it doesn't, it will just bend or break anything its attached to... UE makes some awesome stuff, but if your running on the street, your just askin for carnage....lol
I will run nothing else but RPM arms on my truck...

hey nitroboy, i would suggest as with Imbroken that u dont get the UE suspension unless u have the money. u are just as good to go with the rpm. but if u do have the $$$$ go for it. as for the bulkheads, i will stay with plastic, ya they break frequently but i would rather spend $5.00 on 2 plastic bulkheads rather than $30.

Hey ImBroken.....THe new chassis kicks ass bro (thanks agin for putting up with me..lol) It also looks much better imho then the crappy blue chassis..much more industrial if you will, it added some weight but nothing substantial.

I totally understand where your coming from and this is the thing I'm always considering.....the transfer of momentum and it's damaging affects on weak and strong parts. Your absolutely right in that the expensive ass UE arms could break and would obviously cost shiteloads more to replace then RPM or stock. The only thing I like about the UE arms is their adjustability but I could probably live without it.

Some of my buddies at the labs have offered to do various scientific integirty (or lack theirof) tests on my Maxx for free........NO BS and analyze weak points on the maxx to determine the best parts to replace/beff up. I'll be reporting back to everyone when they're done in four months or so.

Peace

as u seen in my gallery i have the UE widetrack suspension. i love it, but i had hit a brick going full throttle (my truck took off by itself) and it bent the top a-arm. it is still drivable but i will have to replace it soon.

Damn that sucks BRian but I guess it's better then bending two. Nice arms.

How long does it take you to adjust them bro??

Peace

i know i got lucky but still it sucks

they are easy and fast too adjust, right now i have them for racing, but easily 5 mins i can have her ready for jumping.

If I had da money hanging out the Anus I'd still buy the UE arms tomorrow but alas I have a new baby and a wife that likes to shop @ Boutique stores...lol. Then again your building a real deal SUpermaxx....I just want a more bulletproff ride. I did get all the chrome Bling-bling for my Maxx today though Brian. PRM Clawz wide-offset "CHrome" wheels and RPM front and rear Chrome bumpers.

Peace

I beat the livin snot outa my truck.... I have witnesses on RCNT.
I have yet to bend, break or destroy an arm or bulkhead.
I'm using....
Traxxas Al. bulkheads
Hardcore bulkhead braces
RPM arms
Lunsford Ti. Hingepins
Hardcore knuckles & pillowballs
Integy Al. Towers w/stock body posts
stock bumper mounts (cushion)
Traxxas BigBores
& Rockhoundz Al. bumpers

It's been a pretty rock solid combo for me....
Good Luck....

PS. I did really like that HC Ti. Chassis.... I almost bought the Ext. 21 version.... Glad ya like it...

Yeah. I have watched ImBroken's Maxx in action when we were together for the east coast bash. He was giving it a severe beating and he didn't break anything. If I remember correctly the only thing he destroyed was his spur gear after we left the BMX track.
