Other than spending all my money into the rc's and the real whips, i also enjoy photography and was wondering if any other people on here also enjoy taking photos either digital or film? I currently use a cheap sony cybershot for point and shoot, but for all the good stuff i got a pentax k100d dslr with 3 lens(18-55mm,50-200mm,70-300mm macro) along with a remote shutter controler, pentax af200 flash, and lastly a 2x telephoto magnifier. Any one else here like me and spend tons on photography gear ?

Photography is awesome! I shot for Speedway Illustrated Magazine for a few years. As well as for the AP. I graduated with honors from the Fort Lauderdale Art Institute with a degree in photography.

At the moment I still have a film camera, I am still using my Canon EOS 1n. I have a 70-200mm 2.8 L series zoom, a wide angle, 1.4x converter, 550ex flash with the seperate canon power pack for it, and a bunch of other misc lenses and crap. I easily have over 5 grand in to my camera equipment.

I really want to pick up a Canon D30 body, it is compatible with all my pro series lenses and flash set up from my EOS 1n.

I wish I had an artistic eye - I've always enjoyed photography but suck at it.

I absolutely LOVE photography. I have always enjoyed it, but since it's gone digital it has opened up the doors for someone like me. However, I'm nowhere near the photography artists that you guys are. I currently only have a 7 megapixel kodak for point and shoot, but I'm going to be purchasing a nice camera soon. I just bought a camera online for a friend of mine because the brick and morter stores here were outrageous. I really like the camera that we bought for him, so I'm going to get one soon. It's the Canon 40D with high speed memory card. It's really nice to have a friend with equipment like that for my RC's, and having a track at home, I want to get some nice equipment and have a hobby inside a hobby with photography and RC's.

I have a LOT of photography equipment collecting dust since I went digital. Minolta cameras with an assortment of lenses and 3 tripods.
I know I'll get almost nothing for the camera and lenses, but I have absolutely no use for it anymore.

By the way, where did you spot that train? It's an F-7, and I didn't think they were still running anywhere.

I'm just getting into photograghy and getting deeper and deeper by the month. haha My wife and kids bought me a nikon D80 with a Tamron 18-200 lens for christmas. since then i've bought the vertical battery grip, several filters, various memory cards and just last night placed an order for the new Tamron Vibration Control lens. so far we use it mostly for family pictures and the occasional shot of the dog, but as the wrmer weather starts i'll start taking some outdoor shots. At 10+ megapixels and zoom range of almost 400mm i can sit on my deck and capture some pretty cool wildlife pics.

How do you guys like the converters? do they distort the picture quality any? i've thought about picking up the 2x converter from nikon but i've heard it adds 'noise' to the pics.

Rolex, you should look into the new Sony line on digital SLR's. since they bought minolta, they are using the same lens mount so your lens should fit.

The train is on display in a park downtown here, theres also a tank on display. I have only just ordered my 2x converter, ill be getting it in the next couple days here, i have also heard that it adds noise but I'm unshure as to how much noise its going to add, ill let you know once i get it and ill take some sample shots with it to show noise differences.

cool. thanks.
I've heard the noise creeps in around the 800 ISO marker...in some cameras its a bit higher.

I can't believe I hadn't heard that. I had the sony and an Olympus side by side, almost identical features, and preferred the 'feel' of the Olympus. I've got 5x optical zoom, 10x digital, but digital zoom I've never liked on any other digi camera. That creates noise and cuts the pixals way down. I'm about to order a telephoto and a 2x converter through Olympus.
