Well my parents are getting mad cuzi just spend about 1000 dollars on a maxx and sold it for 100$ and am giving a engine head away Quote from mom (You will not be allowed to get another nitro car while your in this house, so enjoy your brothers buggy now, YOU WOLNT BE GETTING ANY MORE NITRO CARS YOUV SPENT WAY TO MUCH MONEY IIN THIS HOBBY, THROWING MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN). That pissed me off i told her ill get a savage right when i leave this house or go buy one w/o asking permission. I mean its my own money i mean they were getting on to me for givinga head away that i will never use again. I find this so freeking retarted, its not like I'm lacking for money now iv got 1,500 in the bank thats what i had b/f i got the T-maxx, sorry to be posting so long but i think thats really retarted. Waht do you all think?

Your parens are just trying to make sure you spend your money well and not lose it all in one investment. Granted this hobby is pricey so just take their advice with a grain of salt as they say it to help you. I am sure it will all blow over. Might want to buy a used one from someone on the forum like NJRC. He has a nice looking one but SKYMAXX has his eyes on it so. shop right!

GOod luck

Jon

Ok Thanks, well i dont have/want to fork out the money for a savage at the moment cuz were moving and I'm trying to get back in with the buggy, havnt run a nitro for about 2months so i think the buggy is a good start, but i was just upset cuz they said i could never get another one. That just kinda iritated me.

parents were the same way, i sold my savage for like $400 and spent $1500, lay low for awhile and you will be back in business. look at me i just got the mp777 special 1, but i had to do alot of convinicing that i am racing this buggy and not just to trash around with

yeah, i see what ur saying. My parents wouldnt let me even participate in the loto but waht ever ill just let this one blow off. Then get the savage.

I've been through that, except in some respects it's much worse. My dad is HEAVILY into r/c planes and would want nothing more than to just see me flying planes and no cars.

He would frequently complain about how much money i'm spending on the cars, meanwhile we'd have like 8 fully ready to fly airplanes laying around that add up to a lot more money than my cars. This would drive me CRAZY since it's so freaking hypocritical, and I can remember a few full on arguments with me yelling at him for being so biased.

While he has settled down and really hasn't complained about my cars for awhile now, I know he still has no love for them. Worse thing is he has the impression all r/c car racers are a bunch of stuckup assholes. A few years ago I tried to get into racing and my dad wanted to "support" me. So he went to the track with me, given i'm SUPER shy, I never ended up running the car and my dad did all the talking. I guess we went to the wrong track judging by his impressions of the racers and their friendliness.

Since i'm an adult now, he really can't complain all that much anymore. But I do get an occasional, "you should start flying pattern more since they're a great bunch of people and they accept you in their group unlike car racers." I just tell him he's gotten the wrong impression of racers and pattern people are just as cliqish as racers. He just doesn't realize it since he's in the clique.

I remember many trips to the LHS when I got my electric TC3 that I got ripped off on. The hobby shop was kind enough to give me any spare parts laying around if I needed it. Not to mention, two veteran racers were kind enough to take out 20 minutes of their prep time with their own cars and wire up my ESC since I couldn't figure that out. And believe me, the job they did wasn't an easy task.

now fisherman lemme get this straight. your parents said "you wont be getting any more cars while your in this house" and you just said, "we're moving" so just wait it out till after the move. its less to pack and loose anyway.

if your parents are still against it perhaps propose to them that you would like to take up drugs, smoking, and/or drinking. try to rationalize with them that you have a healthy hobby and you enjoy it. compare it to any hobbies that they may have and enjoy doing. your best off trying to come at them with logic rather than a "i just want it" attitude. and wait till they cool off.

maybe even explain to them that your maxx that you lost major money on was your mistake for not reading up on a more reliable truck. now that you've learned from your experience you can buy a truck thats more durable and can be run without breakage or as much of an investment.

You spent 1K on a Maxx and sold it for $100? I'd be pissed at MYSELF if I did that. :D

Here's the dealio: you say it's "your" money, so I'm assuming you have a job and worked for it, but you're still living in your parent's house so you're still under their rules.

She probably didn't express it in the right way but she's trying to instill in you the value of money. Once you're on your own, you'll get it, and you'll see whay selling a 1K Maxx for $100 pissed her off so bad. :D

Ok i we are moving, across town i didnt plan on getting a savage for a wile like tell we got moved in and settled. The one thousand was a llearning experience for me i think it taught me to research befor buying and what to and not to do with these engines i mean if i could go back i would get a savage but i can't so. I mean I'm not sad i lost all that money cuz i can't change it now i can change my decisions in the future though. My parents just didnt think i would be spending this much money on this hobby in the beginng, i mean you see these little trucks and wouldnt expect them to be or add up to thousands of dollars. I'm going to stay in the hobby prolly wolnt get a MT for a wile but this time i will only spend the money on what is needed and not on things i think would be cool, I will manage my money better.
