painting

I bought a hummer body for my car and I want to do a flame design. I have two questions

1.I plan to make a stencil with masking tape. That way it wont spread where I don't want it to (on the rest body I would have just painted)duh any other techniques?

And 2. with this protective film I will paint the body it base color and the I will paint over it the blue flames. Will the protective cote allow the blue to go over and replace the silver?

yea i just relized that drwing flames is harder then i thought.

Does any one know where i can buy a stencil, or even better does some one have a flame desigen i can print out then cut it out to trace it like a stencil. Some one please i need help.

Your Body came with film on the outside right? Well first draw your flames on the outside right on the film! Since you can peel it off at the end! Then spray liquid mask on the inside like three coats! Let it dry over night or for 8 hours or so! Then using your flames you drew on the outside take your Hobby Knife and your time and cut your flames out(on the inside of course!). Then peel that section of mask out. Now you can paint your flames, If you want to have them change colors (form one to another simply start with one and fade to the next, It will be hard with a can but possible if you try! Then when it dries remove the rest of the liquid mask! Now you can paint the rest and there you have it! After the flames or before you can cut out your windows too and paint them! Then remove your outside film and there is your Job Well Done!!!!

Based on that question I think you're thinking of painting the outside. Lexan bodies are painted from the inside. So when you paint, it's a reverse order as far as layering. When done , you remove the plastic protection which saves the body from overspray.

The reason the body is painted from the inside is so that scrathches and nicks don't show from when you run the car.

see i had a felling you paint the inside. then i got an impresion that you paint the out side. I tought that it didn't make sense. Well i will be more prepared for the next time. Ahh. my 30$ bucks

dont worry we all make mistakes when we first start off. just last week i had a blonde moment and forgot to attach the fuel line to the carb, so dont feel bad. and i have heard stories of others forgetting to put fuel in the fuel tank... and stuff
