I want to paint my LCG TVP's. what type of paint should I use, it has to be able to withstand nitro, and do I use primer first.

Thanks

For something like this I recommend scoring it with a light grit sand paper or even steel wool. THat should make the paint adhere really good. as far as paint, I am not too sure. I prefer the raw look.

I'd get them re-anodized or powdercoated, the painted TVPs that I've seen don't turn out looking too good IMO.

yep. leave em raw or get them powdercoated. the painted look turns out crappy once u go thru some rocks

Powder coat looks nice but it will chip sooner or later and that just looks ugly. If you want to paint the aluminum ... sand, prime and paint. Personally, raw finish is best.

my old parts ands tvps were powdered....Held up awesome, Easy clean and looks good!

btw, ill sell em.

If you bash it, have the anodized. Anything short of that will leave you with an ugly finish after a run or two.

Well I am looking at my savy and I dont know how I will chip or scratch the paint, I make a bunch of my own custom parts and my middle skid plate I made has held up very well and I have not hurt the TVP's, if my truck rolls the body will and tires will protect it. I want to paint my plates cause I dont have the money to get really cool parts that are Ti of CF and I dont know were I would go to get them ano'd or powder coated and it will probly cost an arm and a leg, so I eathier make my own stuff or I paint what I have so it is not the same as every other savy out their, I want my savy to be my creation. thats way I make most of my stuff cause no one else has it.

Would auto body paint work

There are some great home powder coating systems out now, like Eastwood's Hot Coat system, so you can do it yourself at home. Pick up a garage sale toaster oven and you're all set. Do your friend's parts and make some cash! :D

Powder coating is not really all that expensive. My little brother just had the wheels on his 02 SS powder coated black and it was only $40 a wheel.
So I figure that you could do your whole truck for under $40.
