Hey all,
For my savage i wanted to take the body posts and like paint them a metallic silver so it looks cool. I was thinking of buying some home depot spray paint .. Would that work?
What do u guys recoment

Well I suppose it would work. Putting them into the shock towers might scratch the paint. Also the paint might clog up the holes in the post. Give it a try and see what happens. If you have to put pins or something in the holes or pish the paint out after it would be no sweat. Try it and for god sake post some pics.

If you look at Rolex's savage in his bling forums, you will see a silver roll bar. It's simply the stock Savage X roll bar that he painted silver and it matches all of the aluminum very good. I think you're biggest problem would be that the paint isn't going to hold up on the body posts if you're actually using the truck.

OK.. so I guess ill just go out and get some homedepot paint. Ill try the posts first if i like it ill do the roll bar. Ill post pics...

should i do gold or silver?

The color is up to you, but I would recommend Parma or Createx, the same paint used for the lexan bodies since it needs to be flexible.

Actually I would recommend Krylon Fusion, it's made specifically to bond with plastic, and will most likely hold up much better than lexan paints will.

lol i didnt read the forums before i got the paint Just went out and got some homedepot metallic paint Its not meant for plastic cuz they dint have metallic in plastic version. But ill try it and see wat happens. If not then i guess ill have to go with neon colors

If you haven't already started yet, I would recomend a good primer on the plastic first, so the paint doesn't "eat" the plastic, thus ruining your finish.

damn. didnt think of that one.. Would it really matter? I have some primer but it was from walls think i could use that?

If you're talking about mixing interior home primer with metallic spray paint, I think it will be a gamble at best. Even with very high end automotive and airbrush finishes, mixing one brand of paint with another clear and things such as that can have catastrophic results, heck it even happens to one of the best painters on the forum ;)

Nah, screw the primer i just went ahead and did it without. Worst comes to worst ill just have to buy new mounts which i was planning on doing anyway!!
