I'm painting the body that came with my Savage SS. I am using Pactra RC265 for the upper half and I masked the lower half. I plan to use Pactra RC250 Outlaw Black for the bottom. I used an entire 3oz can on the top of the body and it still seems transparent when I hold it up to the light. When I look at it in normal lighting it is not transparent. It is only transparent when I hold it up to bright light.

I painted the Blue part first, probably should have done the lower half in Black first. It looks like the Black is going to show through the Blue when I paint the lower half. Should I back the Metallic Blue with something, maybe silver? The Blue actually turned out lighter than I thought it would. Is there any other choice for a backing color that would make the Blue darker & deeper?

Back it with the Outlaw black, and the blue will go really dark.

Silver is the norm and will keep the color for the most part.

Black is also normal, and as Sky said, will make it REAL dark :)

I dont know how dark it will actually get after shooting a full 3oz can of blue on there... lol You can try it, but it will likely become only a tad darker. I would back the blue with Silver to give it a more metallic look. This will also seal the blue before shooting the black...

I use the Flourescent sealer to brighten up the color.

So do you guys think that it is looking good so far :)

Yeh looks good! Post picutres of the complete thing as well!

I backed the Metallic Blue with Pactra RC262 Indy Silver. It eliminated the transparency "problem" and it did not really change the color. It might be my imagination but I think it may have made the Metallic Blue more metallic. This body is going to look great when it is done.
