I'm planning on doing my break in today maybe. its going to be about 85 to 88 , is that too hot to do my break in?or should iu just run richer?

You're fine, just make sure you're running on the rich side but also that engine temps gets to 200.

Take your time with the break in. Running rich is never a problem. Just remember to turn the flywheel to leave the piston at the BOTTOM of the stroke while cooling down.

bdc is something i always do, i make sure of it , even when i stop for a few minutes.I'm going for about 5 to ten tanks for break in

Excellent. I always extend the 'easy life' of the engine before I tune it for max performance. Some guys rush through the break in, then tune it lean as soon as possible. Short life for the mill, and they blame the manufacturer.

I used to break in and tune a lot of engines when we had a track near here, and recently I just heard from someone who has now run 11 gallons through the last one I did for him. I can't take all the credit on that, obviously he's also taking really good care of it, but I didn't think anything could run that long. He races every Saturday and Sunday, so it gets a good workout.

damn 11 gallons is pretty good i guess, so far i have changed engines every 3 or 4 gallons cause i got fed up with the lack of power and always wanted someting more powerful, and now i think i found one with more power and intend on taking good care for it.

Just realize that when you are done breaking the engine in, you will need to lean it up quite a bit to get the fuel mixture right. Hot days require you to lean the mixture...which in turn causes you to have to watch the temps carefully. Running on the rich side is always good, but on really hot days...performance can suffer greatly depending on just how rich you run it.
