output shaft

has anybody come across an aluminium output shaft before ,i was pulling down one of my spare trannys to make way for the slayer gear set and noticed that the output shaft is very light.could this be an issue later on down the track i mean the shaft has been used and look in good nick

I think it was the stock 2.5 revo forward only shaft that was aluminum. I bent one years ago but that was when we were doing crazy stunts. Never had an issue under normal bashing/racing.
