Hey fellas I just bought a VZB .21 and someone was telling me that this engine might need a pinch job.... Can anyone elaborate on this or recommend someone that does this.......I will be putting this in a lightning rr which clutch springs should I use in a 3 shoe aluminum clutch??? Anything else you can recommend would be great thanks............James

if the fly wheel is easy to turn over (can turn with pinky) then you might need a pinch. I fyou want to get rid of this engine let me know!

check out osrocket on ebay. he does a LOT of pinches and apparently great work since i havent heard a complaint yet. i would use a 3 shoe carbon clutch. i have an aluminum, but prefer carbon because its a lot less maintainance. carbon still has plenty of punch for most general bashing and racing.

did you get it off a guy name robert?

the OS VZ-B engine.. was a new engine to replace the VO1-B engine. They did new porting.. and new piston.. the motor is a great motor. very smooth.. and super fast. However.. OS changed the piston material, to a harder material, that would wear out the sleeve.. and lose pinch after bout 1 gallon of use. I also read that alot of these guys would send in the motor back to OS, and they would give a new piston and sleeve.. but it was the same thing.. wears out after 1 gallon, alot of guys then would take the VZ-B sleeve, get a VO1-B piston.. and send it to OSrocket.. and have them sqeezed.. and get great life out of the motor..

They replaced the VZ-B with the new Vspec.

DG is right again.

but you forgot to say that once the os pinch is gone os seem to get run faster. b.c. there is less wear on the metal.

if you have pinch when the more is at running temp you are making your rod work to hard and you will wear out the rod in about a 1 gal or so.

you want a motor to have a thump with the plug in and not when it is out.

never never turn you motor over with the plug in there.
it put pressure on the element in the plug. which in turn makes the element weak.
which will burn out faster or fall into your motor and kill it DEAD.

this is something i learned from some pros and D. Richey a super mod man.

again don't turn or let someone turn you motor over with the plug in.

and really if your motor is super new the pressure is to hard on the element.

alot of people think if i don't have pinch the motor is dead. the motor is really get up to speed.

less wear on the metal means you will go faster.

when you break in a motor your temp is high right. once i breaks in it drop right.
as u see the motor has less pinch so it is has smooth action and less metal rubbing on metal.
i hope this helps

I'm just coming up on the 1 gallon mark with my VZ-B .21. Its performing great so far and seems to be just as strong as ever. This thread has prompted me to contact OS and see if they have any programs in place to help out a long time customer.

When I find anything out I will post it.

WHy do you ask??? if i got it from a guy named Robert???? keep the info coming........thanks...................... James

Yeah i bought it from him he seems to be a nice guy.........I just hope the motor runs good. I can't believe that those motors are only good for just a couple of gallons and then you have to send them off........
