ok my freind got a savage and instead of fixing up the savage to out run him i want to fix up the t-maxx to leave him in the dust
and i was wanting your opinion on which one of the engines is better all i hear is good things about the os21tm and i here a tht the picco.26 has no accl. tell me what u your opinoin please

The picco .26max is a beast as well. I can't compare because i have not driven or seen a os .21tm in action

My brother in law as the Picco .26 in his REVO, and beleive me, that truck kicks A**!!! Just my 2 cents.

If you want acceleration, the Picco .26 is a torque MONSTER. It's impossible to keep the front down without throttle control, but with a wheelie bar (stock on the 3.3), it's a drag racer's dream. It's got plenty of top end too, and the top-end Resonator I got on it helps alot.

I've heard great things about both engines, but i have also heard that the picco is hard to find parts for. IDK if its true or not, just hear - say.

Has anyone seen any dyno info on either of these? I have a Picco .26 Max and I think I may pick up an OS .21TM this week. The 3.3 in the Platinum is screwed up and I am waiting for Traxxas to inspect it.I felt the difference with the Picco at the track. It was easy to make the doulbles consistantly and even the triples are in reach with it.The low speed o rings got screwed up and I just got them from Nitro House.Throttle was sticky from new.I am not sure what that is? Beautiful looking engine with plenty of power and it seems easy to tune compared to the 3.3.

Nitrohouse.com stocks all the parts for the Picco.

Thats because Nitrohouse is inside the Ofna Building!! LOL But honestly I dont trust those guys. I have had several issues with them and I visit their store frequently. They try to give me different prices than they have online, 2 broken pull starts(the springs broke) and they wont do anything about it. :thumbdown

thxs so far evryone. right now the os.21tm has me covinced. are the bearings on the picco.26 that bad? and is there any other direct fit engine that are really powerful for the t-maxx?

I've run ~3 gallons through my Picco so far and have yet to have a problem. The only complaint I had at first was that the LSN was kind of hard to get to, but after it was turned a little bit it "broke in" the seals and got much easier to adjust.

I have not had any experience with the rb motors, but I will say that I have not had a problem with the bearings at all. The bearing problem was fixed a while ago. The motor is great so far.

If one of the magazines has some balls they will do a shootout and declare a winner.Send in the idea to all the mags.Dyno runs would be great to see too.

The 523 is a great mill for the Tmaxx but the OS will give you more power, and generally speaking seem to be a much easier to keep tuned motor.
I have an RB 523 and the tuning slips a little over a few hours. In fact I have an LRP that keeps its tune better.
Still good though.

Good feedback!

It seems that it's hard to wrong with an OS. I'd kinda like to try the Picco but I've read mixed stories about it. Some say it's hard to tune, others swear it's not. Some report front bearing leaks. It's hard to gauge. A friend of mine has the Picco .26Max in his Revo and just loves it.

It seems so much of an owner's experience revolves around tuning that I'm surprised that more engines aren't sold without carbs and that carbs could be easily purchased seperately and swapped around. It seems like almost nobody swaps carbs in the RC world. It's very common in the 1:1 world, I can't count how many carbs I've swapped on various motorcycles and cars.

I still think many people would be happier with the the TRX 3.3 motor if it had a different carb. I hate the way the stock unit carburates, it's waaay too rich from 1/8 - 1/2 throttle and there's no way to tune it out. It needs a proper slide needle to control the mixture in that range.

I continue to hear great things about LRP motors, I'm planning on putting Z.28r Spec3 motor in my Inferno GT.
