Ok i dont know if any of you guys remember but you can check my other posts about my damn problems....lol
I put a OS18 on my older style maxx and havent been able to drive it yet. It would just "jump" into gear, so i rebuilt a bunch of poop in/on the tranny and today i put the forward only conversion on and its still messin up. So after really lookin at it i found out the gear off the motor wasn't turnin so the spur gear wasn't movin. We tore it apart and the clutchs look alright but i reused the stock flywheel off my .15pro. I dont know how to get it to really tighten down, or if i need a new one or maybe i f'ed up the compression fitting??
HELP!!! I just wanna run this new motor!!

hmm will have to check into it...but how in the hell do you tighten the nut on the flywheel? i can't get a socket in there with those pins that hold the clutch on plus the whole shaft just turns!!

You should be able to get a 10mm long socket in there i never had that problem maybe you need to try a diff socket that's a bit thinner. And you can use channel locks to grip the flywheel as you tighten. Also use a dab of medium loctite on threads and give it some time to harden.

i'm pretty sure when we tried this last time even holding the flywheel the shaft would still turn....

I prefer to hold the flywheel externally with soft jaw channel-lock type pliers. I also have a piston stop tool that screws into the glow plug hole. It has a plastic tip to keep it from marring the piston. It usually doesn't need much torque to keep the crank from turning.

when we try to hold onto the flywheel the whole nut still doesn't tighten down, the shaft and nut still spin together. My bro mentioned i need a new flywheel, would this fix the problem? He mentioned something about a compression fitting

Did you buy the os.18 with the short crank? If not sounds like the crank is bottoming out in the nut. If this is the case you can cut the needed amount off with a dremel.

hmm not sure about the crank....i called the hobby shop and priced a flywheel but they said to check out a brass cone inside it so i'm about to do that here in a few

I agree with you. When I got my os 18 from my lhs it was the long shaft. All he had to do was cut it down and screw it on and has been fine ever since. You'll love the motor once you get it running!

ok got it figured out!! took the pull start off and held the shaft from the back while we tightened the nut down.
Damn does that OS scream!! Love it!!
