so I'm running a T.15 (stock on my mt2). I think I'm running real rich, too much fule coming out the pipe so I lean it out about 1/8. now its running great. I also tweaked the low end so it would get up a little quicker. The rpms sound a bit high but hey its running good for once so I let it go. Then "bulnk" it dies, a little bit of smoke from carb, head area. What should I do next, dont want to hurt it futher. When it over heats what happens inside the engine? :wtf:

I beleive oil break down. It get so hot that the oil will not lube anything and it will be metal to metal. Oil can only stick to something so hot.

Find the manufactuer's (HPI) factory settings for the needels, but a temp gun, and tell us what the temps are. This will help us fix your problem.

I hear ya, no cash for temp gun right now though

24.99 will get you a decent one. return your carb for one lsn is flush wiht the body and the hsn is i think ( if i remember right from my t-15) 3 1/2 turns outfrom full closed. and it says it clear to lean out do only like 1/4 turn or something like that. read the book.

Run it till it's up to temp, then bring it in and pinch the fuel line to the carb. It should take between 3 and 4 seconds to speed up then stop. If it's less than 3 seconds, you are a bit lean on the LSN. Running the LSN too lean will raise your temps to a point where you can't bring them down with your HSN and still make it run right. Once the LSN is set right, adjust the HSN for good performance while ALWAYS seeing a trail of smoke. No smoke, not enough oil to keep it cool. Too much smoke, sluggish running, and too rich.
The temp gun is a good thing to have to keep it on the safe side, but the above procedure will keep you running without damaging the engine.

Thanx to all, I will follow the advice. But in the mean time I have to get new roto-start or switch to pull because the damm thing broke once again. Right at the post that comes out of the mortor. I think I'm leaning towards pull start convert this roto-start has me forming bad habits i think and besides it keeps breaking. Once again thanx and Ill get back to all with the results.
