As far as I know neither of those Baja are stock, the black one has a race engine. They aren't opening them up on that track because it's a very slick track and as you could see it's pretty small for those trucks. They just don't look like they are going fast because the track size, but trust me they are moving right along. The sound isn't going to be right on those because the pipe comes out the rear best I can remember, and my camera isn't the best for audio.

no time to work on it, no room to run it, it was loud as hell, and I'm in the middle of the city.

I would run it anyways...I hear cars bumpin and engine racing, they can hear my rc

I only use mine once a month.

One 5B at the on-road Autocross track in San Jose.

One 5B and a 5T at the off-road track at Thunder Valley.

They are the most fun I have ever had running RC's.

Man you have 3 of them....Damn you

i'm relatively new to the baja scene (i got mine in april) and i can say they are great. like the guys above have said they are FAR easier to run and the enjoyment factor is a 100x better than nitro.

the only down side is the initial cost is pricey. but then again its 3 bucks for a gallon of gas VS 35+ for nitro.

You mix the gas right since its a 2 stroke? what kind of oil is the best for em?

i plan on buying one of these or something similar one day down the road when i can afford it.

You just need to mix it to the proper ratio.

HPI sells theirs which is probably just a re-bottled mystery brand.

I personally have been using Klotz which is a synthetic from day 1 mixed at a 32:1 ratio.

It has worked out great for me so I have had no reason to change.

what do you think about buying a used baja? is it pretty risky or do the engines hold up really well so its not as iffy as buying a used nitro would be?

It depends on how much of a deal you can get.

If you are only talking about saving around $200, you may be better off saving the extra coin for a brand new one.

If you are saving $400 or more, then it is probably worth the risk as long as the chassis isn't bent. Even if the motor is worn out, you can pick up another one for under $150 brand new.

There is a marine cylinder conversion for the stock 23 and 26 that will add power.

There are also a lot of other engine options to choose from ranging from a few hundred to a thousand dollars for a monster.

Man those trucks are killer. I have been thinking about selling all my junk one day and going out to get one of those gas jobbers.

Thanks for the words Rob, reason i asked about tuning is cuz I've seen so many vids of them where they seem like they run extremly boggy and wont open up, i didnt know if that was a common problem or just they didnt have it tuned right.
A tuned pipe makes a HUGE!!! difference on how responsive they are. They are worth every penny IMO. There are many choices to choose from with looking for a tuned pipe, check out our selection.

it there alota of hop ups for the motors ?
The easiest and cheapest hop-up for the Baja is getting big bore kit either a 26cc or 29cc. Alot of the power and preformance on these cars is found in the gearing. Here is a link to our preformance parts

TeamGoNads,

Any recommendation over any other for both tuned pipes and big bore kits?

Damn, that's an awesome price for that big bore kit, I'll have to remember that when I pick up a 5b or t.

on ebay there are 1/5 buggies that look identical to the 5b rtr for about $500 new. Looks the same but with out the name.

or the quality.

You get what you pay for when you get a clone.

the engine is a small part of the money. cy 23 is 150.00, cy26 is 170.00 most the money is the body. B clear body, 30.00, T clear body, 150.00.

more mounting items. side impact rails, f and r T mounts, different rims/tires.

19t idler gear in tranny oppossed to a 20t of the b.
full metal gear steering servo with metal servo arm.
Full plastic under tray for the PS and Clutch side.
26cc (which is what comes in the SS). most the rest of the T is a 5B SS with a few T items.

I still don't understand why the T body is so expensive. It's still regular old vacuum formed lexan of petg isn't it, or is it a hardbody? Either way, I think that's too much for the body itself...now maybe if it was painted up with a custom paint job, then we'd talk.
