this is a pretty vague question but this kid I've been crawling with talked his boss into puttin a crawler course up outside of there place of business, the boss wants to set up the rocks inside a railroad tie frame and them poor cement in to secure them and they need ideas of how to set it up, any suggestions?

Dont pour the concrete. If you pour concrete over them, then it will be permanent. You have the potential to have a really nice crawler course at someone's place I presume is near your home. Take full advantage of it. You will need to get pretty good size rocks. You'll want it to be like a mound, so if you can't get enough rocks you may want to use like some milk crates, big chunks of wood, etc... to build the middle up higher than the rest. As you start laying the rocks out, just kinda see where you start to see some lines forming to go up on one side and back down on the other, and go from there. I think a good place to crawl like that needs to have some different sides that you can crawl on so you don't just have on long line, but that's just me. That way you can crawl a bunch of lines without changing up the configuration. I think the concrete is a really bad idea, because as you start crawling you will notice gaps that you'll need to fill in, then you'll find one spot too easy and need to take something out, etc... As long as it's not in concrete, you can make the adjustments as needed. The railroad ties are a great idea by the way.

yeah i totally agree about the concrete, but its not my place or anyone i know personally, the kids boss doesn't crawl but wants a good setup for some reason, its a suspension shop so it kinda makes sense why he would think its cool to have one, i think he just wants it to be really clean and not just look like a pile of rocks and thats why he wants concrete but he might also be going off how some of those indoor setups look. by the way any one know how they make those?

The portable ones? The make a mold and then use some special material stuff that hardens like concrete but it very lightweight to cover it. That's how the one was that I saw the build process on, but there may be other ways as well.

i want one of those for my living room.

There's an article on the axial website of how to build an aritificial crawler course that's perfect for the living room. I'm going to get one of the Losi 1.9 inch crawlers and build one of those so I can play around in the house at night and when it's raining and stuff.

hell yeah, i carry my crawler with me every where i go, about everyday i find some where new during work to mess around on for a few minutes.

i think this might be coming along now, kevin (the kid whose doing it) got some rocks donated to him from a construction sight and his boss designated an area for it, i think he or we are gonna try to set it up with the same idea as the one on the ckrc video, should be cool and a setup like that is in my opinion more presentable to the eye as apposed to a pile of lava rock. i'll try to take some pics when its done or he will, I've been trying to talk him into joining cuz this rock section is better than the "other" entire website if u follow my drift lol.

Just make real sure that you have all the lines the way that you wont them before you do that. You need to have some spots that are almost impossible to get over, or else you'll get bored with it too fast. Even if it's impossible to get over for some people, you can always bridge it with a small rock way easier than you can take something out, and you might want to make one side semi hard and one side very hard to crawl.

yeah i think it will prolly work out something like that, i prolly wont help too much cuz its kind far for me to drive but i think he has the same idea plus I'm gonna try to go finish my course later on, i got me 16 gates now so it should be fun. although i ran across a rattle snake last time i was there lol so I'm sketchy now, took me 9 shots to hit that bastard.

no no, more accurate gun lol, i was using my 45 wich i can't hit crap with and its so loud that it really draws attention to me lol.

I'll take my 1200 defender with pistol grip and short barrel over a handgun for snakes any day, I just might look funny walking up to the crawling competition with it on my side lol

Yuck, I hate snakes more than just abouy anything out there. The only thing worse would be youtube.

sorry for the mini highjack, but i see a snake topic ...

The women must tell you constantly that you have a huge snake. I've never been able to say that and actually be telling the truth. He's huge and beautiful, and I'm SOOO glad he's not mine. I think the only thing I'm genuinely frightened of to that degree is snakes, I fear them and therefore hate being around them.

sorry to hear that man, but jeeze that snake is huge and id prolly have an instant heart attack if i saw it.
