tried starting my motor without exhaust header attached. It started but ran very crazy for a few seconds then shut off. I didn't notice however at first that the exhaust had fallen off the motor so i started it again and this time it did a complete runaway and then shut down again instantly. I at this point noticed the exhaust off the motor. It has been doing funny stuff ever since. When I go to start the motor it only runs for a few seconds, at a very fast pace without giving any throttle, and then it dies. I can get it to keep running but only if a keep in the throttle big time.

how much compression does it have? how hot does it get?

did you make sure the carb was only 1-2mm open?

You can't run an engine without the exhaust! It runs super lean then and that is why it shuts down so fast. You are hurting your engine like that.

Put the exhaust back on and you will not have any trouble with it.
