  1. Bashing
i was finally getting to break my truck out again after some small repairs (new u-joint and a-arm bolt) and was tuning it again. finally got it back to going great and it went, top down, no shell to protect it, in the water.

opened everything up, wd-40'd everything. cleaned it out and let it try.

engine is back up and strong but the radio is out. it would twitch but now it doesn't even do that.

am I s.o.l. or can i salvage the radio.

problem 2. brakes.
i still have plenty of pad left of my brake pads but it doesn't stop very well. when i first got it it would stop on a dime. i don't want to "upgrade" i just want what i had when i bought it.

thanks again!

The rx is probably fried and for the brakes adjust the linkage to engage them more firmly

k,
assuming the radio is gone, do i just replace that part (the part with antenna coming out of it) or do i need to worry about the servos too?

hhmmm they are probably gone as well you can test them by bypassing the rx with a couple wires from the battery pack to the servos however I kinda think their toast as they had power when they got wet. just a thought what servos do you use some of them say they are waterproof

well, i ran it though said ditch a couple of slow passes just seeing what she would do and that didn't phase it one bit (steering servo must have gotten soaked during said passes)
i use the ones that came with the truck. stock, t-maxx 3.3 servos. i noticed at my hobby shop they had a poster that read something like "the earth is covered 70% by water....bring it) and had a picture of an e-maxx tearing through some water. same servos on the e-maxx as t-maxx? just an observation.

not really sure here maybe someone else will jump in. I know they make waterproof servos but I think they are an upgrade and not stock but like I said Idk

I think the E-maxx uses the blue(waterbroof) servos. Highly reccomended for the steeering servo(2075). I did a home waterproofing to my other servo and it seems to have saved it so far.....as well as the battery box and rx'er.

Great ideas. It's easy piece of mind.

ugh, thanks matt
i have a 2070 for my steering. only thing that gives me hope is when it did work for the few moments after the wreak that they half way worked the wheels would turn fully. i'm going to keep my eye on the servos but i'm pretty sure my radio is toast.

where is a good place online to buy one of those? and do they make a waterproof model? for the radio i mean

Ebay. The radio is the thing you hold. The receiver is on the truck. It will run you $50-60 bucks for 2 servos and a receiver. Water proof the rx(receiver) box with blue, pliable rtv. Use a tooth pick to need it on. Heat shrink on the antenna tube. I would still recommend staying outta water. One gulp in the engine and your done.

ah, sorry to use incorrect lingo. handheld is fine, rx is toast. i'll check ebay. thanks again.
and what is rtv?

rtv or brandname permatex is an automotive sealant/gasket maker you can find its equal at any autoparts place wal mart etc

ok, the crystal should be ok? i found rx's on ebay for cheap but they all looked the same. do i just plug my crystal into a standard rx and then it works for me?
i understand the crystal gives it the frequency but could that be messed up too?
and rx=receiver and tx=handheld?

the crystal could be but it is sealed pretty good and they are cheap try yours first.make sure the rx is the same as your truck
