For some reason I have fried 2 different one way bearings on two different engines. Each of them wanted to "lock-up" on the crankshaft and would not unlock when the engine was running. They were almost impossible to get off the shaft.

Once I got them off they looked OK from a visual inspection. There was a bit of dark residue in the needle bearings, but not much else.

Is there any way to maintain these bearings to avoid these problems? Can they be dunked in denatured alcohol (or anything else) and re-used?

I also have one I just installed on a brand-new Sirio .18 (2 tankfuls) that doesn't wan't to hook up to the crankshaft all the time. Any suggestions to avoid having to yank my engines every week? What a PITA!

Thanks in advance for your input.

Yes you can and should clean them. Dirt is a bearing's worst enemy. You should also add a light coat of oil to the bearing before you put it in. Remember while oil could care less, dirt is attracted to it for some reason so make sure it's a light coat.

Well i dont think that there is any solution besides cleaning it. Those things always have the tendency to blow out. Nothing that you can do besides make up some story and call traxxas and say you want a new one free.......Nick
