I buzzed a one way bearing in my truck so I went to the LHS and got another one. First time I tried to start it, that one went too.

Now to the roto-start. Sometimes when I try to start my truck the roto-start stays in the on position. You know, round and round it goes, were it stops nobody knows. HELP!!!!

Sounds like you need a new switch guy. Is the switch sticking?? In looking at tower's website you would probably be best served to go to a local radio shack and get a new switch if you know this to be the problem.

Just unplug the battery next time is sticks then loosen the two screws on either side of the button and it will release. This has happened to both of my rotostarts.

The problem is that if I had to do that every time the roto start did it, I would be pulling it apart every time I use it.

As far as spinning one way bearings, Help me?

In the words of the Great Oz,"I think I'm going crazy, I don't understand".

IF your one way bearing is just spinning and spinning there is a good chance it is in fact bad. You should go ahead and pull the engine out and verify that is bad by holding onto the flywheel with one hand and spinning the one way with the other hand. If it is in fact slipping you can try one thing. You can soak the one way in WD-40 over night. If that doesn't work you are going to need a new one way. I am sure you can get the one way warrantied by HPI. Also when you got the truck did you double check that the back plate of the engine was thread locked and tightened down properly. I just had this happen to me with my 21. I forgot to use threadlock on the backplate and the screws worked their way loose and the inside plate that makes contact with the pin on the con rod wasn't doing so making it seem like the one way bearing was bad. that was long sorry man.

Actually I think the reason for the switch sticking in the first place is an improper fit in the opening which causes it to catch. You might try taking the rotostart apart and conservatively sanding the area around the switch so it doesn't have anything to catch on. As for the one ways dying it's usually from turning the engine over while flooded which puts a lot of stress on the bearing. Next time try loosening the glow plug a little and with the fuel line to the carb pinched off by the carb spin the engine a little to discharge the excess fuel from the cylinder before trying to start it again.

I had the same problem w/ the oneway bearing. it gets little stress cracks in them and it allows the bearing to slip inside the nut. all it is, is a bearing pressed in a nut. when the nut cracks it allows it to spin free. I'll called HB and they said that if I got these parts that I would never have a problem again. (HPI OneWay Bearing part# HPI1669, and HotBodies Jumpstart Back Plate part#11311) Is what it is a bigger mian gear in the back plate and a lot bigger One way bearing it works good so far.

One way bearings are pretty tough until you start bashing them with a flooded engine. Try loosening the glow plug a bit to release a little compression or do the right thing and unflood the engine before doing any more damage.

Been using nitro for about 2 years now and have never lost a one way bearing. My chosen toy for now is the savage .21 (soon a savage picco .26) and had no trouble with one way at all but have seen other people with same toy trying to start with flooded engine and destroying the one way cus they are too lame to remove the plug and release the build up.

Dont get me wrong, not calling you lame or anything like that, just trying to make a point that if you use this poop the way the manufacturer tells you to then your truck and the parts that make your truck will be happy for a very long time..

Oh, i forgot to say the rotostart sucks big time. Batteries are only made for vibrators not for long lasting things like RC Cars.

Us men were only put on this earth cus vibrators can't get a round of drinks.

I have gone though a few one-way bearings on my 25. 4 in fact in the past two months. Damn big blocks!!
