The body of a soldier killed in Afghanistan returns home to Knoxville after losing his life to an IED. After landing at McGhee Tyson Air Base, the local soldiers killed in battle are given a full police escort and a burial with full military honors. I hope I never have to see another one of these processions because it's hard not to cry.
He served in an infantry division with the 101st Airborne Division, and sadly, he leaves a young wife, a 4 month old daughter and both parents. He was only 24.
Jonathon M. Curtis, I salute you. May God rest your soul.

My prayers got out to his family and all others who have suffered a similar loss.

i have seen many vets cry at service mens funerals. of course i started crying first.

Rolex....I was at his ramp ceremony here in Afghanistan. I try to go to as many as I can here when time permits. I agree it is painful as hell...I know everyday and on each mission it could be me next or one of mine. That is how it works. Sucks. God bless son...you gave it all.

Just goes to prove what a small, small world we live in. Why can't we get along with the neighbors?

Joe, we also salute you and we are extremely thankful for what you do. God bless you man. Stay safe.

You be careful over there bro, i would hate to see a thread that says you were killed, my prayers are with you and your entire family till you come home

It seems we never have an entire day without the flags going down to haft mast. It is a poopy world here. I have had a couple close brushes but that is life and the risk we take. You guys are the reason we do it though. Makes me proud of what we do.

Times have really changed for the best, regarding our military. I was at a car dealership a few days ago, and while filling out some paperwork the salesman shook my hand and thanked me for the time I served. I was in during the Viet Nam conflict, and we were looked down upon by way too many Americans at that time.

If not for our military, we'd be speaking several different languages by now. Thank them ALL for what they do, and like Joe, make them proud of what they do. We'd be in deep poop without them.

"if you can read, thank a teacher......if you speaking english, thank a vet"
