Hey folks, first losi I've EVER owned. got it free without the body. cleaned out entire motor and pull start mechanism and OWB, motor DOES RUN if i put a few drops of fuel into the carb throat. although, will not pull fuel through the dang hose. The motor is a "Mach .15"

The fuel filter in tank DOES seem to be clean, cuz i can prime the motor (by pinching the line coming from exhaust and opening & closing the fuel lid a few times) fires up, runs for a few, then dies n i have to restart my process. i did clean carb out a little bit, i removed both high and low mixture scews, and used compressed air to blow though the holes, along with nipple (haha, nipple..) that the fuel line attatch's to and then watched for fuel to come though while priming.

Not sure if i got the H&L screws set improperly or if there's an issue with the forced air that should be coming into tank via the exhaust? Anyone got any ideas? Thanks folks, hope someone can help!!!!!!!

Make sure you've reset the high and low speed needles to factory settings. Dynamite recommends the high speed needle be set 2.5 turns out from closed. Low speed needle should be set 4 turns out from closed. They also recommend the carb inlet be completely closed when you initially set the LSN. Then adjust the idle stop screw so that there's a 1mm gap visible in the air inlet when the carb arm is completely closed. Here's a link to the manual.

Thank you sir, i just used the search feature n found it on another post somewhere else on teh forum. lol but atleast between you and the other poster, i got it! Woot! Tomorrow i will probably fiddle with it some more. hopefully i get it running flawlessly! ill keep my fingers crossed!

That was my first "hobby grade" RC many years ago. Was a decent rig, but pretty fragile, especially for a newbie basher.

You can see it prime when you force it, but if the filter is clogged at all, the suction of the engine trying to take in fuel and pressure of the pipe may not be enough to overcome the clogged filter to sustain running.

You can try letting it soak a while with the filter submerged, then figure out a way to force fuel backwards through the filter to try and rinse it out.

Indeed my friend, its been soaking all night. once i get a few errands outta the way today, it will be next priority. I'm determined to get it running. i used some compressed air yesterday to "back-feed" through the fuel filter. I had enough air going back through to pop the fuel lid open, along with blowing air outta the "exhaust hose" nipple. So we shall see.

If all else fails i have 2 other ideas. one will be to tear off carb, clean it up and re-install with some RTV, and pull the backing plate off motor and re seal it as well...

If that doesn't work, it'll be on to buying a new motor for it, and a fuel tank! lol

The OS 18CV-R is a great little engine and you should be able to find one that would bolt right in.

Be careful when starting that thing. For some reason, I kept cracking the tops of the tanks. I think that's where I put my hand to hold it when pulling the starter.

i ended up purchasing a new motor due to the fact that i cannot get this one figured out.. i tore it apart today and sealed everything up with rtv. i also dis assembled the carb and cleaned it the best i could. Upon re assembling, first fire was good. it ran for about 45 seconds, and i managed to set the idle down a shade. i then stood up and walked over to grab the transmitter and on my way back, the car died. i then tried to restart, and it once again, started its bullcrap as it had been doing. i though i had it beat, but i guess not.. (something id like to mention, i did let the high temp rtv set up for 6 hours today in the sun, so I'm pretty sure it was more than good enough.)

i even went as far as swapping fuel lines around. for instance, i put the feed line on the port where the exhaust should be hooked up. tried it that way just for grins n giggles, but no difference. i then hooked everything back up the way it was, and installed a one-way check valve on the pressure line. (to be sure it wasn't loosing its tank pressure out through the exhaust) and still, no difference...lol.. I've spent 2 days chasing this thing around with no luck other than a 45 second run that was absolutely beautiful.

The thing i dunno about is, is it motor/carb issue, or is it a tank/filter issue!? i wish there was a way to remove that dang filter without destroying the stupid tank..but i can't seem to find a way to do that. lol anyhow, new motor on its way, so we will see if its tank related in a week or so.. and if same issue persists once i get the new motor..imma be hot!! lol..

so off to the garage i go to see if i can find something i missed....lets hope so eh? lol

PS. Broke my tmaxx today, stupid steering linkage gave out at about 10mph today when i smacked the corner of the shed.....ahhhhh pooooop! lol

Thanks guys, ill try to keep yinz up to speed!

After further evaluation..i believe my issue is the "pinch" in the sleeve N stuff..i removed the fuel filter from the tank to verify is wasn't a fuel starvation issue...it was for a little bit..but not my main problem. I then got it running, and let it run for about 30-45 seconds..as usual, it got to about 210 degree's and died..and when i pull the string, it feels like its got NO compression...so...that tells me that its just plain ole worn out..ahhhhh shucks.. oh well, new motor on the way..we'lll see what that does for it!

Definitely could be a possibility. Take the engine apart and push the piston up in the sleeve. If it goes clear to the top of the sleeve without much force or goes through the top of the sleeve and sticks out, she's done.

Could always try and repinch it, but that's a pretty low dollar engine. You'd probably be better off buying new if the pinch is shot.

New Motor has arrived

motors here. installed, and i tried starting it..seems to be flooding out though so i checked needles. all as they should be. 4 and 2.5. glow plug igniter is pretty dead too though so that may be part of my issue. Put igniter on charge and off to work i go

on another note, new motor has WAY more compression than the old one did. hands down! so hopefully tomorrrow i can get it running..lets keep fingers crossed doods! thanks!

Well it runs. Hell of a bear for starting though, ugh! lol one tank through it. so far so good. hope it gets a little easier to start once it gets a few more through it! lol

on another note, i think ill be selling the Tmaxx and the Losi once i get it broke in. i got 3 and i really dont even have much time to play with 1 let alone 3. lol and if anyones intersted, it'll prolly be a good deal on both of them. seperate or as a pair. but we will see what goes on..

i caught hell this morning for not spending any time with the ole lady or the kid so I'm just tired of gettin yelled at all the time...

Yea its a great truck mate buts it pretty fragile so keep it save lol.

Thanks and have fun.
