Old Tmaxx With Starter Problems

I have an old tmaxx .15. It has had less than a gallon and a half of fuel ran through it, but my one way bearing is already gone out in it. Would my e-z start from my new tmaxx work on spinning he old .15 over or is it too big. The reason i ask is because i have a complete e-z start for the new 2.5 just laying around. I'd hate to buy a new one-way for the old one if i could use this new setup instead, even still doesn't this seem like too soon for a one-way to go bad? I mean my new maxx has well over 5 gallons ran through it and the easy start still works fine on it.

Also i'm assuming the .15 will still run good like it did the last time i ran it, but it hasn't been run in probably about 8 months. If it doesn't decide to run good what would be a good cheap-priced drop in motor for it? If i wanted to put my 2.5 on there would i just have to change the throttle linkage? Seems like that's all there is to it. Let me know what ya think about it.

I am not certain that the bolt pattern on the back of the .TRX Pro .15 matches the bolt pattern on the TRX 2.5. They are both .15 sized engines and the EZ start should work equally well. I'd say, take the engine off and give the 2.5 EZ start a fit test to see if it works on the TRX Pro.

If it does, then you are golden.

this happened to me for a while,

the bearing is just dirty clean it up real good and try again, if it works good for a few starts and then goes bad again, drill a hole in the middle of the cover of the starter assembly so that it goes to the middle of the bearing, next drill another hole on the bottome of the assembly so that when you put a contact cleaner in the upper hole it cleans the bearing and the residue runs out the bottom hole.
but the better solution woud be to screw the trx.15 and get a decent powerplant.

I did this to fix the pullstart on my TRX too. It works great!

I am pretty sure the bolt pattern is not the same for the easy starts, I am certain they both use a different one way bearing. The old style .15 has a hex head bearing, while the 2.5 uses a rounded corner two flat sided bearing. I am not sure if the crank diameter is the same on both engines, but I would highly doubt it, so the bearing wont work from engine to engine unless they are. T maxx one ways suck, plain and simple, but bashmasters suggestion is a great one, I have done this myself before, it works very well.

yep cleaning it with break fluid works but if its realy old u need a new bearing like 15$:violin:

If you do need a new one-way bearing, you may also need a new starter shaft.

no the 2.5 one-way doesn't work. i finally got time to interchange them to see. there is no way the shaft could be worn this soon though. i think it is just the bearing is bad because after i clean it and re-install, it will turn the motor over maybe 8 or 10 revolutions and then just start spinning again. i'm going to go buy one tomorrow.
