Let me know what you think, I asked that it not ship until next week so hopefully it will show up when the wife is at work. :)

LOL I've done that countless number of times

It looks used but not abused
I think you've got a solid foundation to start with. My suggestion is tear it down completely and give it a thorough cleaning top to bottom, inside and out. If there's anything funky with this thing, you'll find it in the cleaning process.
I always dump out any remaining shock oil and refill them, same with the diffs, fresh diff oil or grease. Its good to inspect (and replace if need be) all your bearings,. They're cheap to replace.

Assume the engine is tired but hope for the best. Turn the flywheel by hand and you'll get a sense of what compression is left.
You can learn a lot about the overall condition of your engine by removing the head. You'll get a good idea if it's been run lean, treated with ARO, etc.
Also inspect the condition of your back plate O ring , carb O rings and clutch shoes.
Trannys are pretty simple to inspect, they're either chewed up inside or they're not. Unless you have brutal torque and HP running through them, they hold up well.
Servos take a good beating so check their function before you start your truck.

I know I'm skipping over stuff but last but not least, look into converting to a 2.4 ghz radio system

I plan on full tear down upon arrival LOL not to worried about the engine I have a brand new LRP in the box to put in if this one is toast but am willing to give it a try. The overall condition of the truck looked decent per the photos I have all the major parts should something be toast when it get's here. I am using an older JRXS3 radio and will need to order a receiver to put in this truck so will probably be ditching the stock electronics once I get to putting it back together.

Sounds like you got it all planned out. Nice work man.
Can you post some pics of your progress and such?

Yep once I sneak it past the wife if I can get it in the door unnoticed it will just blend in with the rest of my garage collection she doesn't keep up with what is what

The XS2 isn't bad for what it is but I would recommend you buy a complete 2.4ghz system. Probably won't cost much more than the receiver for the XS2.

If I didn't have 5 other vehicles tied to the JR XS3 I might consider it but it has never let me down yet I mostly just mess around the yard with my trucks and have failsafes on all of my Nitros just to be safe. I had and RC10GT cak in 95 that ran away and it didn't end well. :whhooo:

I do have the XS3 Pro I made a typo in my earlier post

nice find!
well if she does not keep up with stuff tell her you traded something that has been sitting around for awhile for it :)

It has arrived everything feels smooth as far as the diffs go the only visible defect is the motor mount looks like it has a small crack luckily I already have a new one. I haven't started the tear down yet will wait until tomorrow for that so I can actually pull the engine and turn it over by hand and inspect the motor mount.

Enjoy, enjoy. Once it's all torn down you can tell the wife you found enough loose parts to build another one. :hehe:
You just need to put a bunch of parts from other trucks around your work area to keep her confused.
