From personal experience it has given me no problems. I have ran the stock 15/38 gearing and am now using 17/36 gearing and have had no problems getting the correct mesh.

I believe the new era mount is stronger and offers more adjustability for a wider range of gearing options.

yeah, a slight dremmel to the holes helps a lot.
