Can anyone tell me, by looking at the pics if this is a 12 or 15? Its a Os. CV-r. I thought it was a .12 because of the head, but was unsure because it might be older.

I beleive its a 12 because O.S. makes there 15 in black "the engine block"to help race officals tell the differance. check out there site. Osengines.com
Shady26, that's not true. I have a OS .15 cvr, and the case is the same color as the .12. What you'll have to do, is measure the bore in the sleeve.
It might be a .12, I put a .12 head on my .15 because I like the blue head. The .15 came with a black head, maybee that's what you meant.
I would about bet money that its a .12.........berwicknitro, how did you get a .12 head to fit a .15?? The .12 cvr has a bore of .55'" (14mm), the .15 has a bore of .59" (15.2mm). I know its not much but its enough to make a difference. just curious...........
looks like a .12 to me. as long as its the original head. with an upside down hpi mount. which would worry me, simply because that tells me the owner doesn't know up from down, let alone how to care for an engine.
hey, 4u2nv. I am almost 100% positive that that is a .12 being that all .15's that I have seen have a black main case. I have a .15 and it has a black main case with a cube-like head. Hope that helps.

A black crank case means nothing. A lot of 12 engines also have the black crank case. The only 15 I have seen with a blue head is the cvx ( has the v shaped head ), all other blue heads wear 12's. Having said this I do remember someone selling os heads on ebay with a choice of black, blue, or red for the 15 and the 12 so the only way to be sure is to open it up and measure it. My best guess says thats a cv-rx 12
I believe its a OS CV-R 12. But to make sure, look on the back side,(under exhaust port), it should be stamped or molded in to the case whether it is a 12 or 15
As long as that is the origional heat sink head, that is an 0.S. .12 CV-RX. You can tell it is the CV-RX and not the CV-R because it has the pullstart backplate. All .12s I've seen have the blue head. I am pretty sure thats a .12 CV-RX.
