OS. 12 or OS. 15 ( I wont bother listing the specific model becuase i'm lazy)

Hello,

Tower Hobbies website lists the OS .12 and OS .15 ( I wont bother listing the specific models) as the same thing.

I read on here that the .12 is a better engine than the .15.

I just want to know the difference, thanks.

-------------

They are not the same engine, one is a .12 and the other is a .15

I actually have both engines right in front of me. According to O.S. there is about 1/10 horsepower difference in them.

The CV is not a very good motor, imo. I would put a little more money into something a little higher quality, just because a better motor will last you longer.

Just my .02

stadium truck evader i stick with pullstart because i may have a starter box coming

Not a good engine?! I've been running O.S. CV's for as long as they have been on the market. I have averaged 10+ gallons of fuel through each engine before needed to rebuild them. Maybe it's tuning issues that make you think they are bad engines. Although I believe they are the easiest engines on the market to tune, and they hold the tune very well.
If your looking to bash consider the 15, it produces more low end power then the 12 does, but has just as good top speed.

You have obviously had good luck with your engines, but my experience withe CV line has not been good. Two of my friends that run them are constantly rebuilding them. I had one and sold it to a friend, he got like 20 tanks through it and blew it up, you could literally drop the piston through the sleeve with no force.

I'm not dogging your engines at all, but I haven't had any good luck at all with them. My guess is the CV line is the cheapest motors o.s. makes.

What I would suggest would be the O.S. .12 CV-RX (1.0 hp) ( or the .18 CV-RX (1.6 hp)

They cost a little more money and deliver much more power. Keep in mind the CV .12 only produces .56 HP and the .15 CV produces .68 horses.

I'd also suggest an engine with a slide carb as opposed to the rotary carb.

if you're just bashing look into the .18 OS engines...they make a side exhaust rotary carb or slide carb for about 100 bucks.....I'd go that route if you want good engine for the price....

I agree Plaid, the OS .18 CV-RX would be a great engine for a stadium to bash with. Also agree with Dirt, OS makes a great engine, easy to tune and they hold a tune very well...........even the "CV" line of engines........
