I'm from the NYC area and looking for some good tracks to practice at any suggestions, would be willing to travel about an hour, on or off road tracks for nitro cars.
Thanks for the help

Yo Shady, I've been looking for the same damn thing forever bro. Theres a community college around here (Middlesex County College, Edison, NJ) where they hold races every weekend. I'm not sure if they are ROAR or not but they run on regular asphalt not necessarily a "track"

ElBurro put me onto a place out near Queens called Floyd Bennet Field. Its an old airport where they do basically the same thing...they set up a makeshift track on regular asphalt. I've never been there but he says its phat.

SUpposedly theres an offroad track somewhere in north Jersey as well but I've yet to find it. If you find an offroad track lemme know man. F'in around construction sites and empty fields is ok but I wanna run on a track.

Rob

Rob there is an indoor offroad track that i go to in Queens which is ok, kinda rough track though, i have really been looking to run my onroad cars, i keep hearing about this floyd bennet field, is it allowed to run there or you go gonna get your balls broken from the popo?

nah yo...from what ElBurro says they go there all the time. they have an RC Airplane crew that uses the field all the time and the people who run the place actually paid to have the peice of asphalt for the onroads redone for the public...

They turned it into a state park so I'm sure theres a little fee to pay per car to get in but nah there should be no beef with popo less you start some.

"dont start none....wont be none"

Thanks for the info Rob, i'm definatley gonna check it out.

The track in Edison is ROAR sanctioned. And the off-road track is close to Great Adventure. The on-road track is in North Bergen.

hey Team 17, I'm not from NJ so i dont know where north bergen is can you tell me how far it is from the GWB and maybe some more info?
Thanks

I just called American Hobby Center in North Bergen and they say there are NO tracks (on road or off road) that they know of in Bergen County. They used to have a roof top carpet track but no longer.

8-0  Thanx for the update! I guess Jackson NJ and Edison are the only one's around.

I see guys racing their Nitro trucks and buggies in central park on saturdays usually after 4:00. I run mine in the morning. Next to 110 st. in Lenox theres a nice stretch of road to run on road. The cops don't bug me there. Behind the pool area theirs a big dirt field thats used to play soccer sometimes thats good for trucks and buggies. Hope to see you guys there. Would luv to race some body. :burp:

In staten Island we race in a parking lot at a park and ride off of the richmond parkway.
We lay down fire hoses for a track.
the problem is that we are done for the season with on road. now there is a spot in the woods where we go off road.

Wow, never thought to look here for people in the NYC area. Just to give a heads up, Willis Hobbies in Mineola has an indoor track, but I think it's for electric only. I was messing around in Cunningham park with my ntc3 and was stopped by one of the park maintainance crew asking if I had a permit ... said no and made a big fuss because it's a public park and being a tax payer ... yadda yadda yadda. After packing up, I went to my LHS and they said there is a local onroad club that goes there every sunday and they have a permit. I guess cunningham park is a good start.

I heard about Floyd Bennit Field. Gotta check it out too.

Hey, we should get together kick back some beers and burn some nitro.

hey guys, I usedto run at cunningham park on sundays with QURC but there permit expired on oct 5 so there not there anymore, not quite sure where they went. last couple of weeks they didn't have any track materials and was very disorganized. :dumb:
as for brooklyn hobbies they run out at floyd bennet field, I've been out there a few times, maybe it's just me but no one was real talkative found them all to be a bit standoffish not sure what the deal was. But as for admission fees I never had to pay anything to get in and the track surface is very high traction.
Lately i've been running with a bunch of guys out at randalls island just off the triboro bridge, great bunch of guys and their is a couple of good off-road spots out there as well as a hugh empty parking lot where we setup an on-road track with firehose and 3/4 pvc pipe.
Just click on my sig to get to their page.:jet:
