Someone please just tell me that the NTC3 RTR is a great first street car that I will have no problems with and I can get into racing with. Just tell me something so I can go spend some money. No one would even respond to my last thread :sneaky:
is the tranny easily upgradeable to a 2 speed?? thanks I hope

The NTC3 is a good car. Yes it can be upgraded to a 2 speed. Lots of hop-ups. If I were you, I would get the team kit and put it together yourself. Most of the hop-ups you would buy are already there in the kit ie: 2 speed. For about $600 you'll have the engine of your choice, radio of your choice and the experience of how it was put together for when you need to do repairs. You wind up spending more initially but the hop-ups are already there. You won't be spending the extra cash to get it to the team kit level.

Great car to get into the touring class with.

Diver is right, although,, If you are a newbie and have never even driven an rc car b4, I wouldnt recomend the team kit,, go with the rtr and see if this is really what you want , I am not trying to discourage you in any way, but building a rc car from a kit just may be frustrating enough for some one who is new at this to quit in the proccess and never pick it up again! I have seen this happen to friends of mine who have seen my cars and want to give a try! only to find out that they can't build for crap, Your post makes me think you are anxious and just wanna have some fun, go ahead and get the ntc3 rtr with the 2speed kit and put that in first, this would also be a good test for your building skills. If in fact you have built in the past and are mechaniclly enclined, disreguard the above and go for it! either way this is a great car for any beginner! good luck!

Thanx alot for the responses. I have built alot of electric in the past so I am familiar with the kits. I saw the kit at my lhs for $249 do you think this is a good price for the kit?? If so, I will soon be a NTC3 owner. Again thanks alot for the responses.:dancin:

That's an average price for a NTC3 team kit. I'd say go ahead and buy it.

$249 is about right, Thats what I have seen it for at my lhs,, go get it and start building!!!

Make sure to know what engine you wanna use since that'll determine the kit you buy. Rear exhaust, side exhuast non-pullstart, side exhaust pullstart. I think those are the different combinations.

o wow, thanks kwong. Could you possibly give a recommendation??I am thinking probly side exhaust .12 or .15 Like I said I am used to electric so I dont know just a whole lot about the Nitro scene yet. I need something fairly easy to tune but I am usually pretty good with mechanics. Any help is much appreciated.

Do you want pullstart or non pullstart?

If non pullstart, go with an OS 12TR non-turbo.

Kwong2001 is the OS 12TR non-turbo the top of the line mill o.s has to offer? cause I'm looking to pick up a new one for my RS4 3 and wanted to race this spring :)

Thx in Advance

Ok so side and rear exhaust means where the header comes out of the engine right?? Not where the muffler comes out of the car. Is the os 12tr side or rear?? I will probly just go with a starter box scince this is gonna be my racer. Oh yeah is a belt drive car like way better then a shaft drive?? like the R40 ??Thanks again for all your help:bow:

FYI Team Associated will be releasing a factory team version ( part #2033). the expected release date is the end of feb. this may lower the price of current NTC3 kits. if you want to wait for the FT version it is listed at $389 at tower hobbies.

here is some info on the factory team version. just scroll down to FT kit features

I believe the 12TR is strictly a rear exhaust. Depending on on the chassis design, one can be more free-er resistence wise.

I've heard the R40 is a better racing car while the ntc3 is a much better bashing chassis since there's no belts for rocks to take out.

sl0eg1n, $390 for a team kit ntc3? Man that ain't even worth it. I'd get a mugen MTX-3 for that price. Although, I can tell you that i'll be putting the team kit parts on my ntc3 that I don't already have. Probably mostly the suspension pieces though.

That $390 is for the Factory team kit. Aka, titanium where there is steel ... look at the differences in the window above.

$259 is what tower is selling their kits for. I think that's how much I paid for mine.

BTW, disregard the prices that Associated is putting on their website. We all know that's the MSRP. Actual retail price is lower so don't crap your pants when you see it.

Yes it's where the exhaust comes out of the engine not the car. The os 12tr comes side or rear exhaust. Make sure you get the slide carb, not sure if it comes rotary... Seems most people here likes belt better, I have both and think the shaft is more durable. Everything seemed to get sucked in my belt too. I have the ntc3 rtr and beat the hell out of it and hasn't died yet. Just like a timex. I just got the FT NTC3 and can't get it to shift yet but seems like a minor problem from the replies i've received.
I got the FT kit for $240. Seems to be the going prices in the LHS. I wanted to put my own motor,FM receiver, servos and went to a 6v nimh pack, which is what i always end up doing on the rtrs i buy. Plus getting to know the parts when putting it together.
