I just trashed my RS4 3 Type SS yesterday and I'm contemplating on getting another car. I have a new RB Concepts side exhaust engine on it right now, but I may go rear exhaust later. I could still use a TC3 side exhaust build kit for now. But can I still use it it if I later get a rear exhaust motor? Are there a lot of parts to switch out?

there isnt too many, I dont know all them but the main ones will be: pipe (of course), engine mounts, fly wheel and make sure your engine is a standard short crank, or a SG crank. The engine is in backwards compared to the RS43, I believe any engine that will fit in the RS43 will NOT fit in a NTC3.

Can someone back me up on this?

when u r ready to switch ti a rear exhaust - your LHS will guide you, its quite easy. and cheap. even if ur engine isnt a short crank - mine wasn't (rossi .12) u can just hacksaw off the crankshaft like i did. piece of cake

Thanks for the input guys. My goal was to get a TC3 in July, but bashing my RS4 on a brass plug is tempting me to get another 1/10th.

So how is the gearing on a TC3? Can you gear high for top speed? If so what gear combos are you running?

There's like 5 different combinations of pinion and spur...i'm running stock but have the highest gears for top speed

since i mostly race with mine - i use the stock gearing - with a rossi in it, it just screams anyway. Acceleration is amazing, ecspecially since i shortened the clutch shoes, and even with the shift point set really low, i still barely reach top speed on most tracks o r parking lots

Hey man, can you take some pics of the clutch shoes? I wanna see exactly what you did

LOL kwong - to take a part the clutch just for a pic would be a lil inconvienent. But it is EXTREMELY easy. Remove the shoes from the shaft. Take the end of the shoe that is NOT attached to the crankshaf and slice about 1/8th of an inch off with an xacto

ah...well take a pic whenever you have the thing apart...i dun wanna do something until I see a picture

LOL kwong , its easy! Also I think in the March RCNitro magazine there is an article about how to do it. Try the website, I think it is on there too.

they are just clutch shoes, if you screw it up they are not that expensive, it's not like you are porting an engine. Give it a go.

Well, I was bored, my damn sister won't go with me to see x-men2 so i'm stuck doing nothing...anyhow, I took the old dremel and drilled the clutch out...i think I used about a 1/8 drill bit...whatever bit came with the dremel...i'll get up early tomorrow and run the car and see how it does...i've got high hopes...I hope I can peel out

I can't back you up, but I disagree. I agree on the Standard, and possiblity on it being short crank, but the engine will be able to mount on the TC3 with no problem. Just get the kit that is design for Pull start, side exhaust.

That is what I was talking about the Standard Crank. I have a friend who bought a NTC3 Pull Start/Side Exhaust kit, I believe the RS4 will only take a Standard Crank, wich will not fit in the NTC3 (I guess you could cut it as Kwong said)

Thats what pretty much everyone is doing for AE Nitro cars or a Tmaxx. They require a short or cutted crank.
