Have anyone tried the Novarossi RS12T5S2 engine.
I just ordered one based on specs but no reviews of it as of now

Anyone know something about this baby?

Great engine, I have the RS12T5S1, the 1st generation of that engine. I just don't feel the need for to pay that high of a price for the S2 if your purchasing it from Tower or something, the price are a bit high, because Trinity are jacking up the price! Get ready to pull out your hair dryer, the compression is very tight. I didn't think it was that tight, but it is. You might need to have a high torque motor SB or a 1/8 scale sb to turn that sucker over. The engine is great all around, would recommend it.

Thanks Akina's

I thought S1 means SG shaft and the S2 means Standard (Threaded) shaft. I didn't know S2 was the 2nd generation.

Anyhow, thanks for the advice on the SB, I surely will need to change to a Hi-Torque motor then.

Isnt it kind of late for user reviews seeing as though you bought it already.

Buying it doesn't mean to keep it !!

I can always sell it if it doesn't meet my expectations.
Have you tried it or not?

Thks

Yup, S2 mean standard crank also. But Trinity imported it, which is why some people call it the 2nd gen...

I've been reading your comments regarding the STS mt12 on the "sirio engine" thread.
What about that engine compared with your RS12T5 ??
I don't care much if it's hard or complex to tune, but need to have SPEED!! main priority !!!

Thats a good comparasion, I think it will be able to hang or maybe beat my S5. That engine is lighter due to the material they use to make it. I'm not too sure how realiable it is, but I haven't read anything about them losing compression yet. I think the S5 is more torqier than the RS5, I might be wrong, I never drove a car with a Sts on it.... I like STS engine because of the price and performance. I wouldn't be worry to run against anything with a STS. As my S5 against a RS5, that will be a result I have to see or do. :ahh:

Thanks for your comments. Were very helpful.
Just one more question !!
The Nova is already shipped and on it's way to Panama where I live, however I'm a little concern on your comment regarding the SB.
I have a XTM SB with twin 550 motors. Do you think is enough? Which SB you use to turn your engine on?

I'm broke so it better work!!

It won't work... Thats the same SB I have. It will not turn the engine over! You can heat it up with a hair dry as I told you in the other post. Just blow around the head(don't blow the carb) and before you run that engine, take it apart and clean it before breaking in. It don't matter if it's a 60-600 dollar engine, it will need cleaning. Make sure your in a clean area when you do so. Remember how everthing goes together too... You will be very surprise how tight is the compression, I'm the only guy with a S5 at the LHS and everyone was amaze that this engine has tigher compression than the blk pixy's..:cheeky:

Akina,

I received my engine and did all the modifications needed. Fortunately I was able to start it with my current SB and already made my break-in (fully stopped low RPM for 5 tanks and 3 tanks on the track leaning it a little bit after 5-6 laps)

It still seems to have some big adjustment to make, it hesitates a lot from mid to hi RPM and can't identify if it's too lean or too rich. My biggest problem is that I can't remember the factory setting of the hi needle.....do you know how many turns from totally close I need to open it?

Any additional tip from anybody on how to improve the setting on this engine, will be highly appreciatted.

Needle adjustment are sensitive because of the turbo plug. I never paid attention to my high speed or low speed setting at factory, I just start it, after break-in then it's time for tunning. It sound like it's too rich in the mid-hi rpm. Depending on day and weather, lean the HSN just a little. Also do you have a temp gauge or temp gun? Another thing is to NOT TOUCH THE BRASS NEEDLE on the side of the carb. That is the mid range, only high fine tunner mess with that needle. It's pretty hard to adjust and most people leave it alone. It's the one that is on the side of the carb, flush with the surrounding.

Damn!!!
I knew you were going to bring that mid speed needle up!
Everybody is telling me the same thing, and just after breaking in yesterday, I lean that needle a little (I confused it with the low needle)
When I discovered that brass needle was the mid speed needle, I brought it back to richen the mixture the 1/8 turn I already had screwed.

Bottom line, your suggestion is to richen it and then start to lean it until it's fine tune? but how much rich do I have to begin with? which is your reference adjustment start point?

Thanks man!

If you remember how many turn you put on the mid speed, then return it back to normal position, if you have no idea, just flush it with the surrounding. I start the car, drive it around get the engine up to temp, then start to tune it(bliping the throttle). Depending how the day is, if it's a cool day, then leave it like that and see how the engine perform with the setting you have it at right now. If it's hot, then defenily lean it a little. Pay attention to how the engine sounds. Moderate your temp, keep it between 200-240. I like to run it at 205-230 max.
