I got a nice surprise today, Novak sent me another system and even kicked in for 2nd day delivery (return shipping was free). I just soldered the motor wires and battery plug and it did great on the bench, I'll give it a good test run tomorrow!

I have been running the snot out of this set up with zero problems!!! It's as smooth as silk at the slowest crawl you can image and has plenty of speed for a scaler, the increased runtime is also very nice. My only problem is the radio starts to glitch when it gets about 30 ft away...I'm using a TQ3 set up and I have a big ball power and signal wires bundled together, but I just order a spektrum so I'm hoping that will get better soon!

That POS went up in smoke again....Screw Novak!!!!!

I'm a bit surprised at this whole thread...I purchased a refurb from PSUnitro here about a year or so back.... it's an HV 4.5 with the HV-Maxx ESC....it's not even a 5mm shaft and every hobby shop I went to recently to find pinions for it has told me it will die....I run 2 Peak Power 4800 LiPo packs and I beat the living crap out of my gorrilamaxx.....probably run 100 or so charges through both packs on it by now and no serious failure yet...I had some thermal issues but I was trying to gear it way too high for top end so I expected it...the ESC shut down and prevented any damage so far as I can tell....I was actually searching for info on that setup and what slipper to run and read this....WOW

I will say I do like the castle usb programming tool, that's the only reason I wanted to swap to the Mamba Max myself.....Smaxxin I feel your pain, just didn't think Novak would be another compay giving crappy customer care....

I pulled the meter out and found that the motor has a dead short on all three legs. Last time I thought it was just the esc that was bad but they replaced both, I'm guessing it's the motors that are failing and the esc doesn't have an over amp protection so it burns up too. At least that what it seems like to me.

I just got off the phone with Novak cs, I asked for a refund and they said to expect an email with all the info I need to get a refund....Hopefully they make good on it!

My scaler will never have a non sensored brushless in it...I'm going back to brushed! I wish I wouldn't have traded my Rooster 12T, I ran that for over a year with zero problems.
