Notebook Choices Help

I know that several of you guys are computer wizards...I need a little help in deciding which one to choose.

Toshiba P25, 2.8 P4 with hyper threading, dvdrw, win xp pro, wlan 802.11g, 512 ram, 17"

or the more sensible,

Dell Inspiron 8600 1.4 Intel Centrino, dvdrw, win xp pro, 512 ram, wlan 802.11g, 15.4"

I'm not a gammer although we do some video editing for home use. Mostly to use for business via vpn from home. It is going to replace a desktop but have the capability to move it easily to another location. Let me know what you guys think. I'm open for suggestins.

Always go with the baddest computer you can afford. Speed is good and memory is better, but 17" inches of screen is the BOMB.
What is the price of the two machines?

Remember the Pentium 4 M like with the Centrinio technology you times it by 1.5 to get the speed. So a 1.4 is a is really a 2.1. That tOshiba has a better chip but not by far and the 1.4M will get a lot more battery life, tit for tat. Toshiba and Dell are both really nice laptops, hard choice there. If you check the Dell Inspiron 9100 it has a chip just like the Toshiba. I have a 1.7 M in my Inspiron 8600 and it is hella fast.

cajunVFR, the Dell is about $1800 for the one I'm looking at and the Toshiba is around $2400.

HB, I saw the 9100 and it's tempting but thoughts were towards the larger 17" screen standard on the P25.

The Centrino is engergy saving and will centainly do the job but the P4 with 800mhz bus gets my attention..

Any other ideas ??

I have always had great luck with dell products. I manage 600 Dell computers where I work and the quality is usually very good. I own one of dells base laptops and for the money there is plenty of Bang for the Buck.....they are always running deals for money back or multiple free upgrade on ram etc......

sLY
