If were going to do this I'd like to find a place convenient for everyone. try to find out where in NJ.

Well, I have always gone to Cunningham park here in queens. Only problem is that it's illegal to do it without a permit. NOW, I have tracked down the club and registered with them. They have a permit for Sundays only, up till the month of october.

These guys are ok, I'm going to go check out their rides this sunday if it's nice AND do some bashing with them. If it's worthwhile, I'll fill you guys in. They require a $50 membership fee, but it's because It actually goes to club expenses (permits, lap counter they're buyin this year, and website fees).

One thing for sure is that I really wanna bash with you guys if I had the choice.

Well, I've been running with the guys who run at Cunningham park this weekend. Nice group of guys. They have a permit for sundays. Mark is the head honcho and a very good guy. Helpful and most of all very accomodating. He doesn't mind if other guys come along for a day of bashing just as long as you check frequencies before doing anything.

The club basically takes over 3/4 of the parking lot, setting up the course with firehose and cones (no chance of cracking a rim). Nice group of guys. I'm not trying to advertise his site but at least there is an option for some of us NYC folk who don't have too many options. HERE is the link to the site.

BTW Rik-Guyver, I made the connection when I saw you post on their member site. Hope to see you one of these weekends at cunningham park. And welcome to the site!

Also forgot to mention, there is a pretty nice area in front of where we park the cars. Lots of mulch mounds to help cushion the truck if it gets outta hand.

I don't mind driving there. Does anyone have any objections? If not, let's do the bash there.

hey diver I'm out in the bronx but only 14 are there any rules that say i can't go? i tried to register at that sites forum before but never got a email LOL. what train can i take out there?

Fridge, register again ... I have no idea what may have happened.

As far as membership, the dues are mainly for what goes on EVERY sunday ... BBQ and fun. As far as trains, there are no trains going there. It's all bus routes over there. Age ... there are no age limits. The only requirement is to have fun.

Team, it's mostly bashing with friendly competition among friends. When they have their "sponsor" days or events there are prizes. I think they used to race against another hobby shop out on long island, willis hobbies. Not anymore since Willis hobbies will no longer be into outdoor racing at Nassau Community College.

All I can say is, the more the merrier! If you need directions there pm me. They run saturdays (most of the time) and definitely Sundays. Everything is dependant of weather.

BTW, if it's just guys at the club running, no roar rules apply. It's bring what you got and let her rip!

EDIT: They don't require you to join in order to have fun. They want you to see what the club is about before you commit. They do roadtrips too. I think they're going to Barnstormers for something in the summer.

LEt's organize a date & time to meet and see what other members want to go. PM me with the dates that are good for you.

Well I think we need to pick a place first. So far I've been trying to scope out someplace near me and I've been comming up empty. I mean there is always the park but thats just going to be flat land and some baseball diamond sand. Theres a million parking lots we could meet up at (day or night) if we wanted to do onroad but personally I'd rather stay off road.

Id like to stay in NE Jersey, Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, area so the NY people would'nt have to far a ride.

ok guys forst lets set a weekend and specefically where because it seems like its going all over the place if i go can someone help me with my electronics i think i mya have killed them LOL:trashed:

Fridge - your account on the QURC forum has been enabled. We are on the corner of Francis Lewis and Union Tpke. THere is a bus that stops right out on the corner. Logon to the MTA and you can get directions from there. If you still have problems let me know.

Nice to see you out here.

If you guys would be interested in holding your "RC NITRO TALK" Tri State Bash I would be glad to host as long as someone spearheads the orgainization part on behalf of you guys and I will take care of the Parks Department.

Diver (Jeremy) said it all in his previous post of what QURC is all about. The only rule that gets enforced is frequency registration.
(Tell me what frequency you have so I can manage our area properly).

Once again - you are all invited....

Mark

God bless the US of A and QURC

Sorry i didnt see this thread until now. I live in Staten Island, and I have some input on this.
Englishtown is closed! for sure..

I know that in brooklyn, Floyd Bennet field has lots of dirt.
I also know that people run there. I have never been there but I should check it out.
I would love to get together for a bash, It's just that I would rather bash in the dirt.
The guy in Queens seems very nice, and willing to to have us which is great.
But I for one, would like to find dirt.
Just my opinion.

I would like to take a trip out there one day to take Markanda up on his offer to bash with his crew but I too would like to keep THIS bash in the dirt. The more dirt, bigger the hillls, jumps, ruts, etc the better. I have an Inferno, NMT, and Savage that havent seen dirt in weeks and they are going through withdrawls now. They sit there twitchin in the closet anxious to get out burn some nitro fuel and get dirty!!!

I know there is both an onroad RC club and an rc Flyers club out there at Floyd bennett (due to the old runways and acreage of tarmac available) but i dont know there is any place to bash OFFROAD. If one of you close by could check it out I vote we hold it there. Its now a state park and as far as I know you dont need a permit to run on the grounds.

Hey Rob, Send me a PM with your Phone #. You live right over the bridge. Come to SI, and i'll drive us to brooklyn next weekend!
This weekend I'm busy..
Or if any of you Queens guys want to jump over the marine bay bridge in the rockaways. you'll land right at FBF.
Let me know

Good Luck @ Floyd Bennet Field.....I dont go there anymore.....it is not a fun area.

Also, FYI - YOU DO NEED A PERMIT IN THE PARK

I have never been there. What was not fun about it? if you don't mind my asking.
And you do need a permit?
damn!!

Parks department and the US Department of Parks have become very strict. NYC parks confiscates equipment and issues large fines i have been told from a very reliable source. QURC has a permit for Cunningham Park. There is a R/C explosion in the area and our area is a controlled area for the most part. Floyd Bennet is not and people turn on their radios without checking for the most part. Unless you go there during the week when there is only one or two people there it is enjoyable, but then again...I used to go there all the time during the week because it is a "circus" on the weekend, ill leave it at that. I also like to go to an area where i know everyone so when I'm racing i dont have to look over my shoulder worrying that I am going to be robbed ! lol

well, thats good enough for me.
We have to find a patch of woods, and go in there with a frigin shovel and make some frigin jumps!!
Just like the old days!
Now Mark. Go find some woods and get to work. were counting on you!

Don't go TOO FAR into the woods across the lot from us. You'll get the shock of your life. :hump:

Thanks for the kind words mark.

Those kind words are well deserved - you are well liked and your car even runs all the time ! hehe and the most important thing is that "it sounds good"
