So Long as its an 1/8 th scale. Just got to make sure there is no rubbing of the flywheel to crank case.

and from personal experience happening to me right now . involving a Werks Racing clutch on a hyper21 engine . You may need to get a shim kit or a larger tapered collar to put on so that the flywheel does not rub against the engine/crankcase .

It is all interchangable. However, when it comes to the clutch bell it self you may have to chang the washers to make a differant brand CB work on your buggy.

there are 2 diameters for flywheels as well...the newer ones are smaller to acomodate the lower mounting in the chassis.....the older ones will hang below the the newer chassis.....

will most any 1/8 3 shoe clutch setup work on most any manufactor buggy

like will a savage 3 shoe setup like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=19168&item=5973164820&rd=1

work on a kyosho mp7.5 buggy? even if it works i think i would stilll need a kyosho clutch bell right

just wondering if only ofna work on ofna etc...

thanks for any input
I bought a Savage 21 flywheel and clutch kit (cos it was cheap) with the intention of using it in on a Hyper 21 in my Swift buggy.

The flywheel had the wrong offset (I needed over 3mm of spacers between the end of the crankshaft and the the clutch bell bearing) and the clutch springs are way too weak (they are only 0.6mm wire, the clutch was engaged at idle during breakin). The flywheel retaining nut was also wrong. The only thing out of the kit that I could use were the clutch shoes.

My advice is to stick with the flywheel and nut that is supplied with your buggy and use 1.0mm clutch springs. Switch to either 0.9mm or 1.1mm springs if the clutch engagement point is not right for your engine.

I also bought some Racers Edge vented clutch bells. I needed about 1.0mm of packing between the clutch bell bearing and the end of the crankshaft.

He doesn't have the supplied set up, he bought the buggy used from me.
Shame on you! :)

The Savage stuff will work (might need stonger springs though), it's just that you'll need a lot of packing at the end of the crankshaft. As I understand it, HPI supply a 3mm spacer for this very purpose, but obviously that comes with the Savage and its standard 2-shoe clutch setup, they don't supply the 3mm spacer with the 3-shoe clutch "upgrade" kit.

clutch springs a brought in various weights, and if i were to buy after market clutch it would either be Werkz or mugen-kyosho
niggle the offset could have been fixed by a thicker collar, not just putting shims in, do u mean the flywheel qwas hitting the engine ?

great thanks guys ..

the engine i bought xtm 24.7 has a 3 shoe flywheel already installed ( i should have said this in the first post sorry )

I'm all set now...thanks everyone for all the responces

Thanks for the info, Mike.

A thicker collar (do you mean the conical brass collet?) would have been just the ticket, but I wasn't aware that such things existed.

The PRP, HPI and HoBao collets that I have to hand alll seem to be roughly the same size.
