Bought a used 2.5 and got running easily in the street and around the house.

After about 5 minutes it shuts off with a single audible click. It will restart almost right away but then does it again after a few minutes. Seems to happen quicker and gets harder to start each time. Starts fine the next time a couple of days later but eventually the same issue occurs.

Overheating? But what is the click?

Don't have a temp gun yet. Some puffs of white smoke now and then but mostly no smoke. Running a body with no windshield cut-out. Haven't checked any settings yet.

Thanks for the help.

Sounds like over heating, you should have a steady stream of blue smoke, how many turns out are you on your needle settings? I would probably start over, 4turns out on high speed and low speed flush with inner lip. set you idle to 1mm and definitely get a temp gun.

Sounds lean, especially with the lack of smoke. I'd try richening the HSN. As far as the click, I know what your talking about, but I don't know exactly what it is that clicks.

The click is the clutch shoes smacking back against the flywheel nut, after the sudden loss of power. Doesn't mean anythings wrong with it, but I would check it anyway. Its easy to do. A broken clutch spring can cause the engine to die.
