Noob requires help replacing spur gear.... :( ASAP i want to play :)

Ok so i have a koyosho puretenalpah and since buying it i havnt done ANY work on it untill now....

I shreded the spur gear and have since replaced it however i must have done something wrong when re assembleing it, since i can not transfer the power from the spur gear onto the drive shaft/wheels! I simply can not get my head around the workings of the car.

How does the power get transfered onto the driveshaft? The engine runs onto the spur gear but then nothing.. i was under the impresion it didnt near to be directly connected to the drive shaft am i wrong?

Any advice much appreciated as i want to go out and play in the sun
