RC Driving Style
What is the difference between car/buggy/truck glow engines and aero glow engines? I ask this because I was looking for a new motor for my Savage 25 and someone offered me a .60 aero glow engine cheap. I believe the "Truckzilla" engine for tha Savage has a .46 aero engine? Am I right?
I know this might seem like a stupid question to most of you but, please be gentle as I have no idea!!

Look at the differnce in cooling fin size for one. Aero heads are not nearly as big as a car engine due to the prop cooling the engine down. Block finning is smaller too I think. T
Then their may be so issue with the porting of the engine. Car engines have to run at various RPM's all the time, with changing loads from traction and weight and coditions you are running in.
A plane from my little bit of experience stays at a more constant throttle position. Internally I don't think there is much difference.
 
Thanks for the reply, I didn't know about the cooling fins being smaller but now I think of it, it makes sense.
I have noticed that the aero engines seem to have an external nut on the end of the crankshaft, as opposed to an internal screw on the car engines. Looking at this, I guess that an aero engine just won't do.
Time to start saving for a proper motor!
 
You will also notice that engines with a long stroke are designed more for longer track while short stroke engines are better suited for shorter tracks. This is because of the quickness that they generate power (short stroke) verses reaching more power at the top (long stroke). Off road engines typically have fewer ports and generate more low end torque. On road engines are designed for high reving, high HP driving and can probably take a little more heat because they are going faster which allowes more air to cool them.
