I'm tryin to fix my bros savage. It's got no rear drive. The ring and pinion are good, and all the set screws on the shafts are there. I checked the tranny and it's all good. Wen I took the rear diff out I rotated it and seems that the spider gears and smooth, just never opened it. Can't figure it out. Thought it would be somthin obvious.

No I dident. Like u mean that nut thingy where the rim sits on?

I just pulled off one rear wheel and it is not stripped.

Did you check the rim itself, not the hex on the truck.

You did check to make sure all the grub screws in the driveshafts are all still there too right?

Haha, anyways yes the rims are good, I checked the actual rim itself. All grubs seem to b in place. Maybe I'm just missing somthing , like checking it over too fast. It's weird cuz on the outside of the rear diff u could see metal grindings. Very small so that why I checked the diff but it's weird cuz the shavings are on the outside. I'm goin to look it over again and see if I missed somthing but if anyone can think of somthing else, please let me know.

Did you check the slipper pad in the trans

I dident know there is a slipper pad IN the trans. I know there is one on the spur gear.

I checked it over again and cannot find anything. Istill haven't cracked open and looked at the spider gears in the rear. I hav already taken the whole diff out and it seems smooth when I rotate it. This has got me stumped. I'm MY savage, I blown my diffs a few times along with loads of other things so I know whatim lookin for but ya, it's got me this time.

There is no slipper IN the trans, it's on the outside on the spur. If the slipper was the problem, neither end would be turning. Check all pins through the drive cups, the inside of the wheel hubs, as NCNitro suggested, then the diff.
If it were both front and back, it would be a trans problem.

Ya it's only affecting the rear. Ill have more time tomorow so I can check it out better.

You may need to take it one step further, and actually remove the grub screw. There's the possibility that the head is still in there, but the pin has snapped off and gone missing.

Roles, you are correct. I started to take them out and the rear one was missing everything from the head down.

Yup I did. One other thing. I snapped a shock and need a new one I was lookin at the lst shock upgrade. Is it an expensive upgrade?
