I’m in the process of cleaning my 3.3 & was wondering if, you can run an engine with out using a muffler. Will it hurt the engine? pls advise &, thx in advance.

the muffler is tuned to help the engine produce its top power.

the muffler also uses back pressure to help pump fuel to the carb from the tank

i wouldnt run it without the muffler.

You CAN run with out one but as Beason said it is not very good for it and it will run like poo. You will run really lean IF you get fuel at all, just not worth it.

thx guys, I won't do it. Now that I got the 3.3 tore up to pcs, what would you recomend me doing? All I know is, I am replacing the conecting rod, piston & clutch bell. I had these thing since Jan & the 3.3 finally took a brake, from all the bashing.

First make sure you put everything in facing the right way, and then seal as you go.

u replacing sleeve too?

I"ll make a note of that. What sealer would you recomend for the enginge & carb? looks like the carb's O ring in the engine is going to be tuff when, inserting the carb back in the ingine, it's going to be tedious. Would it hurt the performance on engine if carb's O ring seal is damaged, without knowing after inserting the carb back in. I just don't want to pull carb back out aftter seating it in the engine. thx again in advance for the helpful pointers.

There are 2 carb o-rings on the 3.3 engine. 1 in the block groove, and 1 on the carb throat.
Once the block o-ring is seated in the groove just apply a little oil to the carb throat so it will slide in the o-ring smoothly.

Revo 5309,

The sleeve is smooth as glass on the insinde surface of it, should I change sleeve as well or, will the new piston seal with the old sleeve when put back togethe? crank shaft is same thing, smooth as glass, no signs of some scratches, but I have a very little to almost 0 play on the bearings when I tried shaking it from the flywheel end to the back plate end. is these ok for now leave it be, & just do a little cleanig before putting back together?
Thx for your help mate.

10-4, I'll change the sleeve as well. What about the Head & Ring, would it be ok if I use the same one? Thx guys.
