nitro upgrade

hey,

atm i`ve got a smartech winner buggy 1/10th model. got an OEM .15 engine and is more or less a direct copy of the carson stormracer.

i`ve read alot on this forum about the the smartechs are alright for entry/beginner level and about it. and because i dont really do any pro/serious racing i think a few mods to my model will do it (and me) fine.

what i`m thinking is, some decent shocks and a bigger engine (thinking a .21). anything else while i`m in the process?

like i said, i know smartech aint the best around but it'll do me for how much i use it.

just a thought actually...... my LMS did say that my limit is a standard .21 engine (eg, no 8-port). why would he tell me this? weight issues? clearance/fitment? is the engines' driveshaft length to long on anything over .21?

would upgrading manifold+muffler along with engine give a different sound and/or more performance? or is that a n00b question and i NEED to upgrade manifold+muffler with an engine upgrade?

.21's are just too big to fit in most 1/10 rc's without a conversion of some kind. not to mention that they're so powerful chances are you'd strip your tranny.

If you're just hell bent on getting a new engine you might want to consider a good .18 instead of a .21.

The O.S. 18 CV-R(X) would be a great choice for you. If you want to save some cash an XTM .18 would also be a great engine for you. Nitro_Freak is right, without a conversion you won't be able to but a .21 in your 1/10th ride. A good .18 will be just what you need.

the CV-R is the best .18 out there ull never go wrong upgrading to that.
