Was just wondering if there is a way to rig an exhaust system to exit out the rear of my Nitro TC3. Thought it would look really cool and most of all different. Currently, i am running an OS CVRX.12 with side exhaust and pull start.

It looks possible as I sit here and stare at my car.

Also, another question ... I'm getting tired of pullstarting my car. What would I need to do in order to convert it so that I can use a starter box?

Rear exhaust is ricey...but if you'd like to do it, i'm sure it's possible...doesn't the old rc10gt have a rear exhaust? You might look into that.

As for not using the pullstart. If you have a bump start or a starter box, it will work fine and start the car up just fine without having to buy anything else.

If you want to go all out and take the pullstart off completely. You'll have to probably modify your crankshaft and get a different backing on the engine. Once you do that, you'll need to get non-pullstart motor mounts (lowers CG) and also and non-pullstart flywheel. That's really all you'll need to do/get.

Thanks kwong. I'll most probably stick with the way the exhaust is already. It's not high up on my list of "must haves."

As far as the starter box, I will be doing that as soon as I can. BTW, what starter box do you recomend? I was looking at the OFNA pink starter box.

Thanks in advance!

Well right now i've got an OFNA box. Dunno what kind. All I know it's the smaller one for small blocks. It's a dual motor one. I personally would recommend getting a box for .21 with the huge high torque since motor. Although my box can turn over small blocks just fine, it's always nice to have a starter box that you know can turn over any motor.

i made my NTC3 in to a bump start by buying the Team starter box, then I took off the ps from the engine, took everyhting out of the container, and put a bit of silicon where the string come out of the hole for the pull start, and then put it back on empty. Works just fine, no problems...

OMFG Kwong actually helped someone?!?!?!?!?!

Just fuggin with ya man :)

Starter boxes come in two sizes from what I know (I am NOT an expert in starter boxes) they are skinny for 1/10 size rides and fat for 1/8 size rides. If you buy the fat one you mat have problems getting the chassis close enough to the top plate for the starter box to work.

Do you have any other nitro rides? If so and they are larger than 1/10 scal you may want to get yourself a multi-box. (One that will start both 1/10 and 1/8)

I agree with Kwong in that whichever box you buy, the more tourque the better.

Some of the guys here will tell you that if you no longer want to use the PS to cut the end of the crank shaft and buy a new backing plate. This is grea if your going to try to race. (it would be better to just buy a racing engine IMHO) but personally I see no reason to mess with the PS at all. It will work fine even if you leave the PS on. Besides, if you flame out on the track or anywhere away from your box you can just use the PS to get going again as a backup.

Hey Zoomer i did the exact same way "hillbilly way", i use it to store my license and registration....

hey good idea, put a rubber in there too
add a little extra lube and it will do good.

If you started with the rtr version tc3 you will have to change the flywheel to the larger one, the rubber wheel wont reach the stock one, I made this mistake when I changed the stock mill to an os15cv-rx, when I was bashing with nitroadict and I went to bump on his starter box, he pointed this out to me, taking the motor mounts out wasn't an option because I also switched out the chassis to a 7075 alumimium and the slot just wasn't the right size, if you are running the kit version, you wont have to do any of the above!

On the RTR ntc3, don't they have all the pullstart stuff? the engine mount and flywheel? Why would they have the non-pullstart flywheel on the RTR?

off topic: you know, i've gone through enough engines to where I can go pullstart, non-pullstart and even rear exhaust or side exhaust, isn't that sad? Also, I can use either kinds of carbeurators, without having to reset the little throttle thingie.

my pos ps gt broke. i never fixed the ps. i had to carve a bigger hole in the friggin chasis to use my starterbox. no problems with the ps.

I didn't get the RTR version of the NTC3. I bought the kit mainly because I enjoy putting the kits together.

I was out of the hobby for a long time till my brother got me back into it with his HPI Super Nitro Rally. I was mostly into electric but that was about 10 years ago when the Associated RC10L was the rage. I'm glad I got back into it, but my wife isn't too happy.

As far as the starter box is concerned, I will be getting one that does both 1/10 and 1/8. Just thinking of the future since I only have my NTC3 for now. Still trying to find a way to get more without my wife flipping out. One thing for sure, I'll be getting my Savage SS kit.

Not knocking anyone, but I prefer kits to RTR for the simple joy in putting something together and then running it.
